Elvis Costello! Wow...I'm looking forward to this later. One of my favorite artists of all time. I knew there was SOMETHING I liked about you, Mercel ;D (just kidding, of course)

The real W.S. disappointment is in 5c pricing. I'm shocked they're keeping the two year old 4s and it's big-ass connector around. Very un-Apple in my opinion.

I miss Steve. Phil intros the new product quickly without creating much excitement first. Then it seems like the specs and features are simply read out one after the other. Steve's humorous and slightly dramatic yet smooth presentations will be missed forever. One-man show he was. Sell and be happy, dreamRaj. Let's not be unrealistic and dwell on what will never be again.

Elvis costello music choice may cost AAPL the most of the whole presentation. Apple needs more current artists at these events. Remember majority of the Apple products are sold to the young population.

It's being kept around as an option and a trade-up incentive as well. iPhone 4 was popular despite the 5. I expect the same from price-conscious customers this year. There's still a fair amount of Dock Connector accessories to be found, after all.

Regardless of China Mobile, this is the first time that China had the same-time availability as US. That means a huge first week sell into the quarter. And of course a China Mobile deal (if it happens) would not be announced here, with the upcoming China video event. You always announce something new or you don't have an event. Even pricing in China constitutes "new." Sell-off is a buying opp for when those first week sales numbers come out...

I don't agree with the decision to keep the 4S. 3.5" screen and the old dock connector just isn't clean. Also think the 5C will not sell as well as I originally thought. I was hoping for $0 on contract - I think that would have been a fatal blow to Android. On the plus side, 5S cannibalization will be much less than I feared and margins will be better. As a consumer, for $549 off contract, I'd rather have an iPhone 5 over a 5C.
The 5S blew me away. This is a way bigger step up than the 4/4S, in my opinion.

so the website says: iphone5C: "Pre-order iphone 5C beginning Sept 13 for delivery beginning Sept 20th. iphone5S: "Order iPhone 5s beginning Sept 20th"
Does that mean they are not doing pre-orders on the 5S, or does that mean pre-order starts on the 20th for the 5S and ship date isn't listed?
I'm thinking it means no 5S pre-orders.

Fatal blow to Android? You're kidding, tuffett. Xiaomi, for example.
You don't stop momentum with a single phone.
The 4S will do fine by Apple, if the 4 is any indication. Don't forget about Apple's ability to make mid-course pricing adjustments if it has to.

Am I wrong, or does iPhone 5S pricing represent a price increase, or a subsidy decrease? I forget what I paid for my iPhone 5 32 Gig

Say goodbye to product secrecy. The hardware details have been telegraphed (leaked) for months, and spot on (except pricing). Which is why, imo, it is curious to make bets while denying or ignoring what have come to be very reliable rumors (fingerprint-- looking at you, sponge! and of course, the plastic, less expensive iPhone).
The supply chain is only getting broader, more porous.

What are you talking about? 5S has the same pricing as any flagship. $199 to start.

No NFC to pair with that fingerprint sensor? Don't need it. Bluetooth. Mercel gets it. Its the software, not the media.

Maybe I should've timed my buy better, but it's a multi-week swing. I'll take the chance. I did keep a bit of cash back just in case.

Does that make the resale value of my 4S better or worse? Not happy to have been right about "sell the news." Guess we'll just have to see whether the 5C can do the job we all think it was hired for. In time, the splendor of 5S/iOS7 will certainly cement Apple's lock on the high end.

Mercel, it's "twerk" apparently. My bad. Yes, this trollop is a real twerker alright.. Let the the weak hands shake out....Apple and AAPL will be fine. I'm encouraged by today. There's nothing rational about initial WS reactions to the event -- you'll be disappointed expecting otherwise.

Friggin' visionless Wall Street! For the last year all we've heard is how Apple can't innovate. Today they release the most innovative mobile device in the world and the stock tanks because the 5C isn't cheap enough. Apple could give it away for free and there would still be a sell off with gripes about shrinking margins.

Fatal blow to _Samsung_? Even less likely. They're no lightweight.
Wow, AAPL selloff acceleration. Eh, maybe we get 470s after all. I do have a bit of dry powder left, and a bit of patience.

$549 price for 5C ..... not the cheap phone many wanted .... I'm afraid it won't fly in emerging markets. Not happy about this price. Love the 5S but it's not enough to save us right now. This SUCKS .... not sure why they even bothered if they were not going to price it to make a dent in the mid-tier market.
