Apple Broadband Board. ;D
Not concerned with this week or next at the moment - seems to me the price action is still just fine.

For those, as I, who have a large position in aapl in an IRA(USA), having to take a min. distribution and want to just transfer that distribution into aapl into a standard account, here's a thought. Sell 10 covered calls Dec 21 @ 575 for 9K(example). If it's executed @575 take the proceeds, transfer it into the standard account and buy back the 1000 shares @ 575. IRA account has a cool 9k tax deferred profit. If it's not called away, the 9k profit is still there and transfer the aapl stock to the standard account (in kind, no charge)

Carl Icahn @carl_C_Icahn 9m Gave $AAPL notice we’ll be making a precatory proposal to call for vote to increase buyback program, although not at $150 billion level.

Good day - consolidation at this level is healthy.
Apple responded to Carls proposal:
"Earlier this year we more than doubled our capital return program to $100 billion, including the largest share repurchase authorization in history," according to a statement from Apple. "As part of our regular review process, we are once again actively seeking our shareholders' input on our program, and as we said in October, the management team and our board are engaged in an ongoing discussion about it which is thoughtful and deliberate. We will announce any changes to our current program in the first part of calendar 2014."
I wonder if first part of calendar 2014 means Jan earnings?

Google won on a technicality in Round One.
Seems the Federal Circuit sees things differently. I mean, Google's "respect" for IP was really something else. May their copylifting come back to bite them.

Sounds kinda like typical corporation speak, e.g., "we'll keep your resume on file." Last dividend increase was last April, FWIW.

My complete WAG, Apple "ticks off" WS and waits until April 2014.

I'm guessing that even if TC was ready to increase the repurchase program...he would never want people to think that it had anything to do with Icahn but instead, that it was something they were debating/contemplating internally as part of a bigger plan. So I agree...he may very well wait till Carl zips his mouth shut and do it in April 2014.

Tim is in a good position now to just snuff Carl out with his thumb. I would not waste another minute with him and just focus on task at hand...which he has been doing quite well.

Blogger objectivity cred...taken a bit far?
From Gruber about supposed Touch ID "recognition degradation" requiring a re-registered finger -
"Drang is not alone — I’ve had a handful of readers ask me about this recently. Makes me think there’s something to it."
Wow, a handful! By the way, I heard from a guy at the supermarket that...

Just reading comments regarding iCahn on the web …. very few positive ones. I feel anything he puts up for a vote will go down in flames.
My vote is with Tim and Co. they deserve and have earned that.

Apple has more than enough cash to increase the buyback, but I see no problem waiting until April. They should look at things buyback and dividend increases on a yearly basis.

Interesting premise, but I'm not so sure it makes sense. After all, how many tablets did BB *ever* sell anyway to enterprise? Most people I know in "enterprise" have iPads and a few have Androids. www.techfaster.com/blackberry-users-ipad/
