I like the way the CM deal is being "seeped" out lately. Combined with good holiday sales results, these unconfirmed reports have propelled us from the 520's to 570.
Apple and CM will officially confirm/announce at some point which should continue to provide strength.
Its similar to the VZ deal and announcement. It was known before Apple actually confirmed it.

my bet was $600 in 3 weeks about a week ago. which is why I haven't sold any of my shares... I've finally broken even (from a significant loss). now what to do! Hang in there, here comes the gravey. Over $575 intraday! and slouching towards $600. I just heard on NPR that the CM deal with Apple is official.

The institutions are the KEY for AAPL to go higher. Anyone have any insight, first-hand or otherwise, how they are responding to this sea change in sentiment? Perhaps we'll start to see some rotation out of GOOG into AAPL. I don't harbor much hope for rotation out of AMZN -- irrational people don't do rational things.

Standard _Apple_ deal-making or just a new standard emerging? In negotiations up to the last moment of the announcement. Kinda like the labels for iTunes Radio. The actual negotiations: "So what champagne should we all have once we sign the deal an hour before the announcement?" To the media: "STILL NEGOTIATING HERE PEOPLE!"

For months this stock has seemed divorced from reality. It caused me more than once to question my common sense, sanity and ability to add, subtract and divide. More than once I had to pull the straight razor out of Mercel's hands.....the Sponge? Do you know how much Scotch a sponge can hold? Max started growing his hair out! Now things seem to make sense again. I don't want or need parabolic or insanity. A nice market tracking P/E reflecting this battleship balance sheet and the growth and innovation still imbedded in the culture and the TC EXECUTION PREMIUM. Future earnings will then take care of the rest.....

I can't remember the last time we had a day like today- a solid gap unfollowed by neither a "go" nor a "crap"
Certainly not in the last few months...

It is trapped now in the $570-$575 range due to the massive call wall.. Monday back up again once this clears off tomorrow.

What a thoroughly unimpressive move.
Where is the institutional buying? Waiting for the official announcement I guess.
On the plus side VXAPL has jumped this week from 22 to 28, so call contract holders have done rather nicely.

Many institutions have a fiduciary responsibility and would be raked over the coals if they bought it and then the "rumor" didn't become the truth. Most will have to wait and then decide. So for the record, if we do get this deal, will we be able to be called a growth company again???

+1 . After a horrible year, I'm finally up to mid-5 digits again. I'm positioned for the eventual upside of China Mobile in 2014, plus have about 40% in cash ready to go. I was at basically 3 digits in my account at some point back in April/May, so if I'm at 6 digits again by that time next year, it will probably be the biggest turnaround of my life.
On a related note, I just came back from the local Apple store, and was there for maybe 10 minutes total, admiring the new iPad Mini, and also trying out the 27" iMac, which I'm thinking will be my next home computer. The good ol' Mac Pro finally bit the dust a few weeks ago, and I can't see myself spending ~$5K to get the new one.
Anyways, in those 10 minutes, I saw an iPad Air sold, two iPad minis by the same person and at least one iPhone 5s. This with 5F weather outside. I can't see AAPL doing anything but beating significantly come January and April earnings next year.

Red, do I need to talk you down off the ledge? Am not worried here. The WSJ is trying to bake CM into AAPL. If the WSJ would 1/10th as skeptical of Amazon as they are of Apple, we'd be over $2,000 per share. Frankly, with Bezos buying WAPO, one would think the WSJ or NYT would take the gloves off with AMZN.

Quarterly compares got better just as China Mobile is likely coming online as an Apple revs/earnings booster.

Yep.....the fun begins in a couple of weeks. Once the CM new network rolls out with Apple subsidies in place....sales begin, estimates rise, Apple raises guidance....then into January. I'm not worried...I'm verrrrry comfortable
