Friday the 13th....a very lucky day (unless you are Kim Jong Un's uncle - such a weird story - geez!) For those who care, Beyoncé dropped a surprise 'visual album' on iTunes ...I've already heard a few Android users whining this morning on local TV. Lastly, a probable PIN today given lack of any catalyst or earth shattering news. Sorry folks but it's tumbleweeds in the news department on AAPL this morning...perhaps something (hopefully positive) to chew on as the day goes on. Currently, green in PM...but hours to go before the open...... And miles to go before I sleep (one of my favorite poems from long ago).

"Evercore Partners analyst Rob Cihra reiterated an Overweight rating on Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and raised his price target from $630 to $700 Friday, citing an ongoing belief that the recent iPhone and iPad refreshes have rejuvenated momentum and helped stabilize gross margins, and that Apple still has multiple untapped opportunities evolving its integrated iOS software+ hardware+services model."

What does the SEC do exactly?

What does the SEC do exactly? They're undermanned and lacking equivalent talent. And if that wasn't enough, I'm not convinced there is sufficient independence between SEC and WS. I'm resigned to the fact that it's a fool's errand to invest on the basis of fundamental analysis. The playing field would be level if it did, and WS doesn't want a level playing field.

We're not being whining about being amused about whining about whining, are we? Or something? ;D
Next sentiment indicators for CM anyway are pricing, availability, any pre-order interval, any initial data points (not sure the VeriPhone 4 had any), and any earnings "revisions" from Apple because of the CM deal. Could be interesting all the way through earnings. But it's hard for me to ignore the upside potential from the pre-existing CM user base, to say nothing of the rest of the CM subset who were thinking of iPhone but wanted to wait for full network support (which iPhone 5C/5S is said to have, including TD-SCDMA 3G fallback). As long as CM has _some_ promotion and subsidy, and Apple has _some_ supply (which it does), it seems really tough for the partnership to "stumble" out of the gate.

Maybe we can pin at $550. That would be refreshing/s
Too many positives to scare me. Still very confident on $600 before ER.

My favorite quote from the link regarding iPad Mini availability: ================================== spiderman0616 7 weeks ago "Well, according to about 10 different CNET articles on Tuesday, nobody is going to buy them anyway, or any other iPad again for that matter, so it's probably not too big of a deal".

According to surveys from Michael Walkley at Cannacord Genuity, the top three smartphones at all US carriers in November were iPhone 5s/Galaxy S4/iPhone 5c, in that order. So it looks like the 5c is "cheap enough" for the US. Will be interested to see its performance in other markets.

IMHO: there have been many reports of "fake" Apple stores in China. It would not be a stretch to think there are "fake" CM stores.

$919 discount with a 2-year contract? Without actual photos, I still find that hard to believe, since China is supposedly not a market big on subsidies.
"Free higher-end smartphone with contract" is more generous than the US. So...huh?

We're not being whining about being amused about whining about whining, are we? Or something? ;D Sure, why not? ;D Look, all the news is good except the stock. If someone can name another stock where the tail wags the dog like AAPL, I'm all floppy ears. No worries, I'm on vacation and not even a piss poor performance can spoil it. On to next Tuesday (Apple's preferred day for news) and simultaneously, December 18th in China.

IMHO: there have been many reports of "fake" Apple stores in China. It would not be a stretch to think there are "fake" CM stores. Except for the fact that Apple, Inc is not a state-run enterprise like CM is. Ripping off US IP is one thing. It's pretty much official policy (and probably a sticking point in negotiations with Apple). But ripping off the PRC itself? I wouldn't want to be the dudes who tried to run a fake China Mobile store when officers from the Ministry of Public Security walked by. Meanwhile, another random AAPL drop on a Friday due to supply and demand.
