And let's admit it....Apple presentations could use a little ummmmph. Yes, agree with that and agree that others should carry the day instead of Tim (and Peter). If they're reporting a great quarter and guiding well for the next they could stream the video... How great would be to see Schiller walk out and announce "Apple is back, bitches" and drop the mic and walk off stage Spruces up the presentation and gives more time for Oppy & Tim to answer questions. Cook screws up the call every time when he reiterates the redundant with all the amazing/north star bs.

I would be amazed if she was not involved in future presentations. She brings the personification of fashion, and fashion is going to become very important to Apple in some of these new product rollouts...like wearable tech. This woman was a CEO of a very successful brand....I expect to see her, hear her and figure out that piece of the vision. And let's admit it....Apple presentations could use a little ummmmph. Both observations are spot on, Red. We're just "used" to 'em, that's all. And Apple doesn't "dazzle" anymore... Though when was the last time that really happened? iPhone? Maybe iPad? I'm all for continuing refinements to keynote strategy though impact on actual sales is likely minimal. Ahrendts going up on stage would be just fine, or at least speaking in one of those videos to start.

Ahrendts wasn't hired just for her star power. Go look at a Burberry retail store. I wouldn't be surprised to see Apple stores get a major makeover, the result being less Bauhaus minimalist and more fashionable, warm and inviting. So there's something Ahrendts could talk about in a state of the union.

I think she is not only a great communicator, she embodies something that Apple and nerds around the world need to get closer to and ultimately embrace: the melding of technology, social interaction and fashion. It's coming, and probably in ways we can't imagine. I love the Burberry store of the future....I'm impressed by the fearlessness Angela has brought to some of their initiatives. Keeping her "offstage" (either literally or figurativly), would be foolish, and Tim is not a foolish man. He is comfortable complimenting his many skills with people just as smart in their own way, with different skills and different but concurrent visions. I can't wait for Angela to, I hope, explode on the Apple scene. Think Different!

That's an interesting mini-bounce over 560 right there.
Don't mind the current Apple Store aesthetic, but it hasn't been Steve Jobs' and Ron Johnson's project for some time now. It'll be interesting to see if/how the actual Apple Store design/layout evolves.

I think she was hired so Apple has someone experienced in luxury fashion, so that the inclusion of Apple wearable devices into retail channels goes smoothly (it's own stores and third party retailers). Selling high priced watches successfully might be rather different to selling other consumer electronic devices, even if they are iOS based snartwatches. And who knows, we might see a new retail channel for Apple with a push into jewelry stores (jewelry stores might not like the reseller margins on a potential apple iWatch, but perhaps a lot of money can be made from optional luxury iWatch wrist straps).

Why? Apple never gave Ron Johnson, creator of Apple Stores, stage time. There is no role for Ahrendts on stage except for star power. That is not Apple's way of introducing products. Since Jobs (head of the Firm) died, Apple's way has been to have the head of the division that created the product do it. I was not suggesting that she should introduce new Apple products but a few minutes on stage at the beginning of the occasional event, to describe progress in opening new Apple retail stores etc. From watching the Burberry video she seems very comfortable in front of a camera. I would heartily agree with that role.

Apple wearables in May Co, Nordstrom's, Sack's, Burberry, etc. Wherever department stores specialize in premium priced fashion.

I think you could expect her to come up with new adjectives: 'magical,' 'even better,' 'gorgeous,' 'awesome,' 'super,' 'extraordinary,' 'wonderful,' and 'terrific.'

While the iWatch may be a great piece of technology, I just can't see it being a luxury item. That is reserved for mechanical time pieces and the amazing craftsmanship within them. This is going to be a tricky positioning job. People who buy fine watches will scoff at anything electronic, while the masses will push back huge at anything more than say $299. I am confident that Apple will figure it out, but market positioning sure seems like a challenge to me.

More good than excellent IMHO (AMZN did better ), though I'll take a sector-wide bounce that AAPL participates in as well until its own technicals take over. ;D

Perhaps for an electronic watch to make it in the luxury watch market it needs to have an insanely great user experience. Kind of like how the Tesla Model S broke into the luxury car market as the first all electric premium sedan by being super stylish and better at almost everything (despite range anxiety fears). Running those two thoughts together - I really hope iOS in the Car on new vehicles will enable the iWatch to be your car keys.

Broad market finished the year's theme with "One Last Short Squeeze." May this be the last year for many years that AAPL doesn't participate in a plethora of ATHs...

I'm going out on a limb and making two (2) forecasts! 1) AAPL will be at an ATH by October of 2014 2) Mercel will get a date in 2014 The odds of the first happening are much better than the second, but miracles can happen. I bet I am two for two!

In about 3 hours I'm going to have a shot of single malt, go to bed, and say good-bye to 2013 (good riddance). I'm not even going to stay up to watch its passing.
Here's to a 2014 we all hoped to have seen in 2013.
