Last day of the year - 2013. It was a trying year for many of us AAPL holders. The amount of crap that got thrown our way - the poor performance of the stock versus the market - the fiction published as truth in the press - ....I can go on and on. If you made it without having to get a prescription for Diovan - you're a winner. I'm hoping TC lives up to his words...and I have faith he will. "New products" (his two words) will cause sentiment to change - THAT, plus positive forward guidance. A change in sentiment is the only way we get our mojo back -- to a company that certainly deserves to have it back. So TC, bring us new products, great earnings, greater dividends, and do something incredible with some of that cash. Buy something that will propel us leap years ahead. I have a list if you would like to see it, Tim. Gimme a call whenever. To all the AFBers ... it's been a pleasure being in the trenches with all of you. Enjoy your New Year's celebration (some of you already are celebrating I believe). Stay safe....and I'll see you on the other side of the New Year. Good riddance to 2013! Come to momma 2014! PS Today is a full trading day in the market - NOT a shortened day. All markets closed tomorrow (New Year's Day).

I have had better years, personally, professionally and financially (the S&P's 29% rise notwithstanding). But a very early Happy New Year to folks on this board.

Is there a thread for wild guesses for 2014 year-end share prices, or have we all been beaten down so badly that we don't dare guess the future?

Is there a thread for wild guesses for 2014 year-end share prices, or have we all been beaten down so badly that we don't dare guess the future? start one! I just did. My carefully calculated prediction, based upon nothing at all, is $680.

It was a pretty good estimate for September 2012. Not so good for December 2012.

Hopefully Tim Cook will give Angela Ahrendts some time on stage at future Apple events.

If this is some kind of liftoff, I'll take it, even if it's not a Saturn V:

Hopefully Tim Cook will give Angela Ahrendts some time on stage at future Apple events. Why? Apple never gave Ron Johnson, creator of Apple Stores, stage time. There is no role for Ahrendts on stage except for star power. That is not Apple's way of introducing products. Since Jobs (head of the Firm) died, Apple's way has been to have the head of the division that created the product do it.

I was not suggesting that she should introduce new Apple products but a few minutes on stage at the beginning of the occasional event, to describe progress in opening new Apple retail stores etc. From watching the Burberry video she seems very comfortable in front of a camera.

I would be amazed if she was not involved in future presentations. She brings the personification of fashion, and fashion is going to become very important to Apple in some of these new product rollouts...like wearable tech. This woman was a CEO of a very successful brand....I expect to see her, hear her and figure out that piece of the vision. And let's admit it....Apple presentations could use a little ummmmph.

Both observations are spot on, Red.
