New Super Bowl Champs this morning. No commercial from Apple - none promised but would have been nice to see and certainly a pleasant surprise. More headlines on iWatch hints like: Rumor: Apple's next-gen iOS 8 to include 'Healthbook' app for comprehensive health monitoring amongst others but nothing to sink your teeth into. Nikkei has officially gone into correction territory (now down 10%). US futures turning positive this morning....and AAPL in Granny Smith mode this morning but only sightly. Maybe it will follow the usual pattern of down on Friday, up on Monday. We'll see what the day or week brings but we could see sideways action for a while according to several TA folks. We're being pounded by snow on the east coast.....rinse, repeat. Lovely.

He nailed the "why" the 5c didn't sell as well as expected.

www.marketintelligencecenter.com/articles/430495"Once again, I argue that the most distressing thing we are hearing from Apple is silence. The promises of fantastic innovation that we heard last year resulted only in a (literally) cut-rate version of what the company was already selling. Hearing Cook make the same promises again is beyond unconvincing—it's a maddening reminder that we've already been fooled once. While Cook had no choice but to speak these words during Apple's earnings call, he now has the perfect opportunity to atone by remaining silent until Apple has something, anything, worth talking about."

If I recall correctly, when Akamai went public, aapl ended up with a batch of AKAM on a very favorable status, though I think they sold 'em quickly for a good profit. Seeing aapl getting AKAM I bought some and still holding.

This is just frustrating and never ending - Business Insider (ugh) pointing this out in an article: Samsung's Smartphone Software Is Starting To Look A Lot Like Apple's Based on all the legal nonsense and lack of severe punishment toward Samesung, what's the point of spending so much money on R&D only to be copied by these assholes. It really gets under my skin.

It really gets under my skin. I know what you mean, and you know why Apple will keep innovating nonetheless. Some may think otherwise, but Touch ID? Watershed moment in one-touch authentication, Chaos Computer Club "workaround" notwithstanding. Even if it's somehow only a "multi-month" lead, it shows areas of clear HW/SW integration superiority. iPad users/midrange iPhone owners are gonna love it when it (probably) shows up in less than a year. Don't forget, a lot of Apple's R&D isn't just software. Samsung and HP have had years to ape Apple's designs, and there's just no replacement for ridiculous hyperfocus and chamfering "because you can", turns out. I'll be surprised the day the competition gets up to iPhone 4 levels of fit and finish. HP Envy MBA look-alikes are still LOL after all these years.

If you read today's entry at Foss Patents Blog, Mueller describes the prior case history that sets a precedent for including current models that still infringe into the injunction Apple is seeking against Sammy. This is a good time to be temporarily out of the market; this feels like the correction that many have been forecasting. When I told my wife that I had sold all my AAPL, she said "You sold it at the bottom?!" I explained that it might or might not be a bottom; the last time I took her advice and held, it went down another 160 points.

So much for fleeing that dead stock AAPL for real returns, huh? Say what you want about our little fruit company, but when the NASDAQ is down 100 and AAPL is up a buck, it proves Apple definitely trades in its own market.

I suspect that the rumor mill, the grapevine and a little buying back held the fruit company up today.

Oh great, every hacker would now have the ability to bring an entire city to its knees by shutting down traffic at key intersections. Don't people think this crap through.

Oh great, every hacker would now have the ability to bring an entire city to its knees by shutting down traffic at key intersections. Don't people think this crap through. This capability already exists. Hackers can get into street lights, subways, trains, even air traffic control if they want to. All these systems function on the backs of computers. You don't need to be a hacker to shut down traffic - any Governor position will do.

If not don't respond so I will still feel safer in my naivety.

I just find it a tad amusing that several people on the board recently wrote AAPL off, saying there were better stocks out there, and today the one stock that didn't go down was... You have to admit, some nice resiliency on a day like today.
