Let's see if we get any follow through finally. Currently the stock is at $522 (+2.32) in PM but it's all nonsense until the market opens...and even more so, how it closes. The news on the stock this morning is ISS recommending that all vote against the Icahn proposal - which is a big deal since most large institutional holders listen to their recommendations. Maybe Icahn says something today? Don't know...it's a side-show but still somewhat relevant on the day to day swings.

What's funny is...
Apple already IS buying back and additional $50B, but they're not borrowing it. They're taking out of their own piggy bank.
It's called "Hiding it in plain sight". It's laughable.
Deja Vu from 1 year ago around this time when Eienhorn was talking the same type of trash. This is the sequel.
This drama with Ichan is a diversion, that's being used in a lot of diversionary ways.
According to my calcs they only had $10B more to go (as of 1/28/2014) before they exhusted their $60B of borrowed money, but...
it's like, Holy Smokes all the sudden they've announced an addtional $14B and they what? still have another $18B of the borrowed money to go?
Something doesn't add up, but hold it, it does add up when you realize they're buying back more stock then the $60B they borrowed.
Yeah, obviously they're fattening up this stock to eventually sore but we all just have to be more patient.

www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-02-10/apple-wooed-by-arizona-as-obama-seeks-u-s-jobs-comeback.htmlApple’s Mesa plant will make an “unprecedented” amount of synthetic sapphire, Virey said. “When it’s operating at full capacity, this plant is going to be producing as much as two times the current worldwide capacity,” he said. The factory will be able to make enough sapphire for 80 million to 100 million iPhones a year, he said. The process is highly technical and requires a small and well-trained workforce, Virey said. That makes Apple’s new facility unlike those run overseas by manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group, where thousands of workers put iPhones and iPads together by hand on an assembly line. U.S. factories make sense economically when they have expensive and complex equipment that require skilled workers to operate, said Jim McGregor, a technology industry analyst who lives in Mesa.

Ichan is scarrier looking than Eienhorn though, he looks more like a Gangster or a Super Criminal.
Hold it, what do I mean "like".
LOL!

What confuses me is if they're for iPhones, why not build the plant in China next to all the other iPhone suppliers? Are they going to ship the near finished iPhone to Arizona to slap on the screen, or ship the screens all the way to China? Or maybe it's for the iWatch screen?

Where do you think the glass for the current iPhones comes from? Yes, they ship it all the way to China. edit I may have spoken too soon. Corning has plants in Kentucky, Japan and Taiwan.

I could be wrong but I don't think its made in the US. I feel like I read that somewhere...

Into the 530's. Moved well against the 529 point of reference.....can we continue to fill this gap and establish that we had the "island bottom" Mav is so excited about?

Congrats to us longs! I rolled out some of my 2015 leaps on friday to 2016 - I feel like 2014 might be a good year for our beleagered stock. The company has been fine, but the stock another story as we all know. Ichan folding is a story the media can grab onto as they love this stuff (even though it has been kind of a circus side-show in many respects)

I'm surprised he did. OTOH, I'm not surprised why. It's just so obvious that Tim has a cash update on the way and it probably won't be all that modest either (although I'm sure there will be plenty of complaints about it not being "bold enough", even if not from iCahn).

I'm still a bit gloomy on AAPL, though there's an argument (not PROOF, there never is, just an argument) for my "Air Pocket II" theory today. I'm happy with the recovering price. I didn't buy the island bottom theory, it was merely something I was tracking, not trading unfortunately.

Even an improved micro-box for Apple TV would be welcome. A6 or A7 would be great adds by themselves.
