And don't forget I'm #1 in Karma. ;D I'm still looking forward to irritating our southern friend in person but keep missing the Vegas shindigs. I recall thinking how seemingly normal he looked when someone posted the group shot a couple of years back. Who knew? Bill, I hate we missed each other on your return trip a couple of months ago. I will be beating up and old AFB member on the golf course next month, you are welcome to come. Dream on. Shot an 81 three weeks ago. Thumb is 90% healed.

Hello! Coolbrzmcd from AFB here as Coolbreeze. Interventional Radiologist, APPL trader.
I woke up at 3 am eastern to preorder iphone5's and couldn't reach the website. Checking twitter, I realized others were posting that for some reason the apple store app on iOS was much more successful, and so I started placing orders thru that. ( you would think that the Internet browser and iOS apple store app would "hit" the same servers, but clearly they don't). Earlier than 3:40 am, my 4th of 6 iPhone 5's (using 3 appleid accounts) started to hit the "2 week delivery" notice.
I now see that those last three phones are scheduled for delivery on Oct 2, and I can't help but think that for some reason Apple "hit a limit" of iPhone 5's that they want to report on this quarter's financials, and intentionally "pushed" the rest to the next quarter where they want to see the revenues and profits booked.
Maybe a little crazy, but if it can get here Oct 2, why not next Friday? Preorders are still only 2-3 weeks out, it's not like they are going to manufacture 6 million in the next week. Maybe it's just the logistics....
Cheers as we clear 700...

Apple can only release so many iPhone 5s to first-stage launch countries before it completely runs out of supply (either produced or in production) for the big second-stage launch on Sep. 28. No intentional holdbacks going on here, I think. This is the Tim Cook-run Apple. Did anyone notice that UPS shipping notice I linked to from the MacRumors forums, btw?

They will probably sell out everything they can deliver before the end of the quarter, and they probably could do so online. But there need to be plenty of iPhones for Apple stores, other retailers, other countries, etc. If they can spare them, then those Oct 2 phones will doubtlessly be delivered earlier. But Apple won't know for sure until retail sales get under way.

Surprising when the origination scans are in the US, tho! Like the "new" iPads! (I remember, Mav...!)

Chas, feels good in here. The PM's and public comments have made me feel good. FTR, I wish I had handled things differently between us. I let my emotions get the best of me. Believe it or not, I have thought about our round of golf at Bali Hai. I have told a lot of people about that round of golf. You really impressed me that day. No problem Mark, hopefully we can keep things nice and simple in here. Like the fresh start as well! Bali hai, I was so sick that day, that was a crazy round. Have been playing a lot this year and getting into the 70s quite a bit. Semi retired (I guess) and enjoying it - thanks AAPL! We have to play again sometime, love the way you rip that 2 iron! Hope Tammy is well. Looking forward to picking your brain on option strategies, you've definitely leap frogged me.

(Some shipments are also originating from China, which is 100% understandable because of the unbelievable demand crush.)

Are the reported 2 million+ iPhone first day pre-orders just those sold directly by Apple, or does that figure include carriers, and other sellers (Walmart)?

Agree with Big Red, iPad Mini is coming. Too much real stuff out there, not much risk for Apple.

We were carefully weaned OFF the new TV rumors a while back. I got it! But when Gruber and Dalrymple are chatting back and forth about one Apple event for the new phone and a second event in October for the mini iPad, and Apple does not squelch it, it is happening' And we wouldnt have an event in October just for a Mac refresh...it would be deemed disappointing because of the mini iPad excitement. Apple won't goof that up.

Thought I heard someone say he's part of Braeburn. "The Wisdom of Patience" post seems a little presumptuous, I have to say. Hey, even rank amateurs like me (well, maybe more in terms of skill than battle scars ) can pull off a momo-type setup now and then. There's more than one way to play and win the game. Just one comment on one article, though. Not drawing any conclusions. Nick Nansen is part of the Braeburn Group. His style might be a little grand but in a good way.

Gene Munster thinks Apple will sell 8 million iPhone 5s in the launch weekend? That's insane. I don't doubt their ability to sell that many, but the issue may be how many they can stock and ship.
Rumors of product scarcity will result in long lines at stores, you think?

A mini iPad event pre earnings sure won't do things any harm, and when you think about it, the iPod touch is attractive to a very different population than the mini iPad will be. Kids want the cool colors, portability and music/game appeal of the Touch...kids too young to afford phones. We're talking middle school here. the smaller iPad probably won't cannibalize the established iPad, and it's portability has a great appeal.

Agree with Big Red, iPad Mini is coming. Too much real stuff out there, not much risk for Apple. iPad Mini is a complete no-brainer and would be an extremely aggressive pro-active move from Apple to lock up the entire tablet market for years to come. It makes way too much sense for them to do it now than to wait or to never do it at all. iPad Mini is coming, and that right soon.

Looks to me like we are back to the 2005-2007 Fall/Winter rocket ship rides. Glad I didn't convert those shares in Hewitt Financial to cash so they can be moved to E-trade. I would have been sitting on cash for the last couple of weeks instead of a few hundred AAPL.

Shot an 81 three weeks ago. Thumb is 90% healed. Was not talking to you Sponge. I am meeting another AFB member in Vegas next month. You can talk all the junk you want to, playing a real golf course at 7000's yards I will beat you by 20 strokes. You seem to forget that Chas was there and was able to evaluate each of us, you are not even in my zip code. Heck, you are not in Chas's league either. The Chas I saw on the second day would beat you by 30.

OBTW, I love ending after market at 701.90. Hopefully we open above 700 tomorrow and take off, no bouncy-bouncy off of 699.99 all day. I'll look forward to Travis' update later. That wall of calls at 700 may or may not present an huge challenge for Friday. Momo is back in play and with the weekend lines already forming....the news cycle is virtuous right now. My take is, if we could get into the 720's by Wed, it would be hard for the EO's to tank us to 699.XX. But if we stay in the 699-704 range the next two trading days, well, consider it a buying opportunity for the top Oct calls: ~38K 750's.

I don't know about leapfrogging you, but I have put in a lot of time and have a plan that has been doing very good. Some of the things I used to not understand I have a good grasp on now. The last time I played I hit my irons so good it was scary. When I would hit the ball and said "uh oh", my buddy would just drop his head, he knew it was gonna be close. 2iron still the best club in my bag. Probably always will be. It has been a challenging year for Tammy. She has been dealing with some heart issues and now has to use an inhaler to breath without giving out. I have to give her a lot of credit, she just does what she has to and seems to be happier now than ever.

Not so sure the article is all that great. The author devoted more space to the iPod, than she did on the iPad (no estimates there at all). Further, I'm modeling 53 MM iPhones in the December quarter, and get EPS of $17.xx. I see no way possible to get $25.xx. Her story about Apple's momentum is good, but it's just a rehash of all we have already determined. But that's just me.
