Closed out my weekly call spread. Made 20% in 3 days. Not sure why folks on here don't like to post actual trading ideas - even if they are hypothetical. I think apple is going to announce a media event next week but that's truly just my gut based on history of being obsessed about apple and aapl.

Market is tired but I'm willing to bet we catch a bid late.
Aapl as par for the course trades like a dead zombie stock.

Tim did say "throughout 2014" that we'd be seeing new stuff. Sure would be nice for them to deliver the goods as promised. Starting in June is tooo late...

Well - until last year - they hosted an event every march or April and right now - if you go into an apple store - the retail display is empty so something is coming. The out of the blue 25 dollar discount on apple tvs is a good sign something is stirring.

It'd be nice...I sure hope the AppleTV is something special and not a AppleTV 3 with AC WIFI and that's it...it'd be nice to have App Store access, that could be massive. Probably not massive in the near term for revenue, but it'd be a help to the whole ecosystem.

You may be right. I don't know that I have a feeling that something is going to pop, but I do have a strong feeling that APPL has become very FUD resistant. Perhaps the 14 billion dollar buyback sent a strong enough signal to WS that they should find another sandbox. We no longer have the momentum traders (thanks TESLA), and with Tim watching our backs, I feel like we are more solid than ever for the long haul.
OTOH, Tim initially said "new product categories in late 2013 and throughout 2014". We are 6 months into that period with nothing announced. That strikes me as a little strange. They may have run into some problems, perhaps the Comcast/Time Warner deal. It is really all WAGs, but as far as gut feelings go, I am still optimistic. I am buying on any significant dip.

Me too. Here is what I am doing. At the close of trading today - im going to buy a bunch of jan 2016 call spreads maybe 550-600 (BTO 550 STO 600) If apple retraces to 490-500 based on FUD/technicals, etc. Will buy back short leg at a profit and ride the 550 uncovered. If apple goes up - will ride the spread for a bit. Once I make 30-40% on my money - will close out. Let's see how this plays out. I visited Best Buy recently and experienced more of the imitation of Apple by other tech companies. For a couple of years, Apple had a table or two in many Best Buy stores set up with computers and iPads, with all the other manufacturers' products lined up on a shelf and looking rather generic. Now, in addition to Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, and Google all have tables set up with their wares, so Apple doesn't stand out as much. On the other hand, virtually no customers were in the store, so it probably didn't matter anyway.

Milk Music.
How exactly did Samsung think that up?
Well, at least the logo is easier to figure out. Seems inspired by Apple. Again.

If AAPL continues to decline, your loss would accelerate.

Thinking big week next week. So confident? If we are right about EW interpretation, is about to start a big move upwards. BUT, usually it starts with a last flush i.e. a sharp decline to kill off all remaining on the fence weak holders.

BUT, usually it starts with a last flush i.e. a sharp decline to kill off all remaining on the fence weak holders. Technical world suggests IMHO a "final flush" isn't necessarily needed (sloping inverse head and shoulders formation in play). At the end of the day, quiet week, STILL rangebound until we see otherwise. Would be nice to get that cash update in March instead of, say, April earnings (which would make me wonder about April earnings)...

I think guidance for July isn't going to be great...not unless something new comes out. When April comes, it'll be almost 6 months since anything new...yawn. Good thing they're laser focused though.

We should all grow beards until Apple comes out with a significant new product (ladies, excepted, of course, though I do know of one bearded lady in Seattle who has a long goatee and mustache, but I digress ...). If it takes ten years a lot of the beards will be much grayer. Assuming the iWatch comes to fruition, it had better be a more effective effort than the iPhone 5C, or the stock is toast. Cook's reputation is really on the line with this one.

Now I am trying to figure out a strategy of selling covered calls and hedging somehow, possibly by buying puts. Been testing with a paper account but haven't worked out the kinks.
