Good morning ... Over the Hump day Overseas: - Asia up (except Nikkei) - Europe all green - US futures up in pre-market Apple News: - In appleinsider: Rumor: Coming on the heels of a separate iWatch report, sources from the Far East on Wednesday claim Apple has taken receipt of flexible PCB sample boards bound for the much rumored device that could be revealed as soon as September. For the full article: appleinsider.com/articles/14/04/09/rumor-apple-takes-delivery-of-iwatch-circuit-boards-ahead-of-september-debut - In c/net: Company (Apple) is targeting shipments of 65 million smartwatches for 2014, claims a new report out of Taiwan. For the full article: www.cnet.com/news/apple-iwatch-rumored-for-third-quarter/ - In cultofmac : According to a new report from online-video delivery and caching solutions provider Qwilt, streams on Prime Instant Video have almost tripled over the past year — and in the process have passed both Apple and Hulu in terms of volume of video streaming traffic. The data was gathered from MSO broadband providers that use the Qwilt systems. Looks like the AAPL iWatch arriving in September rumor is an article in just about every site. Interestingly, each one has a dramatically different version of what it may look like. Unfortunately - with all these months of hype - will everyone still be excited or will we be yawning when it arrives?! Technically, Mace's words do not fall on deaf ears. A continued up is a possibility but more down is a probability to levels that may include a 4 handle. That being said...the Company may consider the $500 mark as the shores of Normandy for themselves ... we may very well see but let's think positive. AAPL a nice shade of green in PM this morning. Enjoy the day. (temp in the 60's in NY today ~ thank goodness)

I must say, IF there is an iWatch coming in September, then Apple has done an absolute FANTASTIC job with keeping the look of it secret. We always seem to have leeks for every device about 6-months before its actually announced. So either cooks "doubling down" on secrecy is working or.... it doesn't really exist yet

Gruber has become a fan of Microsoft, which is now a sponsor I believe. Samsung is probably a bridge too far.
Free Office forces user to store files to OneDrive, making Office especially worthless without the annual ransom. Old Microsoft wearing new jeans I'm afraid.

Xiaomi appeals to the cost conscious buyer who will get what he or she pays for: Lots of free malware! New report today says Android plays host to all of it. I'm so jealous.

In case you missed it, the Loop has a nice memorial about Steve Jobs inside Newstand. I think it was $1.99, which is infinitely better than owning a weekly option.

Interesting tweet from this guy: www.tintedgreen.net/Mike Lovell @tintedgreen 1h Hand-me-down iPhones are a huge thing (and a big part of my repair market). Hand-me-down Android phones don’t exist.

There is finally positive news about the iWatch and larger iPhones and their production schedules. I suspect that we are about to enter a longer-term positive news cycle about Apple that may help AAPL.

That'd be nice, but I've seen this story about rumors bumping up Apple that turn out to be nothing, just so they can bring us back down again. I'd love to believe iWatch and a 5.5" iPhone is coming soon, but I'm waiting for confirmation from Apple before I put any more money into it.

Even the analysts who do such checks seem to get it wrong about half the time; after all, there is no sure thing in investing whether one is an amateur or a professional. On the other hand, I successfully rode AAPL up for years based upon intuition and observation.

If you see volume and strength - shits happening I'm OK with that...if the only way to outperform is act on illegal insider information or to guess that volume spikes means something, thats fine with me. I'm pretty confident I can go back and look at Large Volume days in Apple and find that nothing comes from it. I'm sure I could find large volume days in 2014 pretty easy, and absolutely nothing has happened so far in 2014. I'm OK with index level returns, which is why I primarily invest in index funds now.

The smart money knows what's up from supply channel checks. If you see volume and strength - shits happening I have never believed this for a minute and still don't. Especially as it relates to a new product category and any associated details. If these checks reveal anything, and I think they are pure BS, the best they can do is provide glimpses into orders for standard parts. What those standard parts are being built into, is not something that the supply chain has any need to know. Expect for the likes of Foxconn, who are not going to risk their Apple relationship by betraying confidential information.

That after-hours move down around 60-70 basis points (because of Gartner's Mac report?) was a little LOL for a while there.
Back to neutral so far.

From the Qwilt report, which reads like Jeff Bezos' mom wrote it: "The source of data for this report is total volume of online video traffic from US cable operators where Qwilt video delivery systems are deployed." What percentage of cable operators have deployed Qwilt's systems? And what about those who use their telco for streaming (e.g., AT&T and Verizon)? *** Anyway, nice to see the Dan Nathan AAPL rally is in bloom.

When apple made items in the hundreds of thousands , and mIllions they could hide behind " standard parts" etc. but now that they have to plan in the 10s and 100s of millions that is much harder to hide. Too many suppliers involved and the supply chains are much longer with much. More leade time.

What I am saying is "so what, if someone in the supply chain just took a big order for stuff like DRAM, Flash, Audio chips, Bluetooth radio's, etc.?" Any number of parts that could end up in all the mobile devices that Apple makes. These supply chain checks are being used to forecast new product categories, which to me is connecting dots that have no business being connected. If someone had credible information like a monster order for 65 inch displays, then that tells us something. But the world is full of people who like to let on that they have inside information on Apple, when all they are doing is fishing for page pits with pure fabricated bull shit. Which is why I am such a skeptic on this belief that there is a select group in the know. I believe that people are way too gullible on these supply chain claims. And yet, we keep hearing them over and over again.

But with the infinite torque of electric motors from 0, it won't be long before a lot of Teslas are smoking you off the starting line. Just saying.

I got to drive one a few weeks ago. I saw the future. This comes from a guy whose father bought the first Shelby 427 in Dallas in 1965 ( or 66?) and had an xke. Have a picture if you want to see it. I scattered his ashes at Road Atlanta.

Goddamn it!!!! two weeks to earnings and we HAVE to talk about cars? ?? Look what happened last time. Everything was going along fine and then we spend a day or two talking about vettes and vets, and we get killed after earnings. Seriously, until someone convinces me otherwise, I believe that the algos are scanning this group for exactly this kind of talk. OK, not so seriously, spring has arrived in the northwest and my NSX is begging for some exercise.

I think we are safe in this case, since it all started with JD talking trash, and trying to get me to take the bait.

The next NSX should be pretty interesting, though no longer the "pure", everyday driver sports car.

Yeah, I'm sure when the technology finally exists to shrink the weight of those heavy batteries by 50% or so, Teslas will dominate the 24 Minutes of Le Mans.
