Good morning ... Don't forget we went XD today so our starting price is actually $589.04While you were sleeping...Asia higher ~ Europe green ~ US futures green News on AAPL:*** Canaccord upped PT from $610 to $660 this morning *** Apple's iPad still reigns supreme for businesses: www.valuewalk.com/2014/05/apple-ipad-reigns-supreme-businesses/We get Initial Claims at 8:30 am (may set the tone for markets). Truth is that the markets in general are giving us a ton of volatility and going off in various direction .... S&P one way - Nasdaq another way - Dow yet another - overseas markets are also going in every which way direction so I can only imagine how confusing it is for the average investor...or even the seasoned veteran. AAPL has performed fairly well as of late plus WWDC and the split coming next month (June). We may also hear something about phone upgrades - as was the rumor earlier in the week - who knows. It's always good to keep your big toe in the water. Anything can happen here. As for Max Pain - it's looking around $590 for tomorrow. Enjoy your day!

Anyone a little worried that WWDC will be underwhelming? Not expecting a product. And not really excited or card too much about a 10.10 preview...

I don't know if that's such a good thing for Apple; that may mean the next Galaxy phone may actually look better and use less plastic

WWDC is going to be interesting, for sure. We'll get the basic updates about new stores, sales, market share, penetration, some developer success stories. They'll move to the CarPlay stuff, which will be for a limited set of developers - but ALL developers should be interested in what their app should work like at 100kph. As macwire mentioned roll right into new OS features, updates, roadmap. If indeed the medical stuff is going to be a completely different ecosystem, they'll have to explain that. How will Xcode support - through iOS tools, or a completely new set of APIs and platform?
Hardware is a wildcard, but rarely launched at WWDC. If it happens I would expect to see TouchID come to all mobile hardware and possibly MacBookPro, then iPhone6 preview (so developers know what chip speed to expect). The AppleTV is a mature platform and would probably need a separate event to keep the media partners happy.

I'm not expecting much at all, which is maybe why the split is scheduled for the same time as a distraction. I wasn't expecting much out of earnings either though, so who knows!

WWDC will be a bore to WS as ALWAYS. Can't remember the last time we were green on WWDC. Short the intra-event surge, almost guaranteed to make you money.

Looks like a close tomorrow between $590 - $595 barring any substantive news.

ZOUNDS! This site is reporting Apple holds only $41B in cash, so approach this site with caution. I mean, they SHOULD be able to figure out that marketable securities counts as cash.

Happy ex-dividend day! Looking fwd to my check from Apple next week! I didn't know Apple did that for its larger shareholders. Looking forward to my highly fractional share's worth of dividends myself.

Gruber apparently drawing some attention to TMO right now
Ironic, considering how we LOVE TMO and our AFB1 forum treatment (right? right?)

I'm skeptical of this one. Would wait for stronger confirmation.

I have to say it .... I DON'T like it. I don't see $3B of value in Beats, I just don't see it.

I'd rather see Apple spend $3.2B on hookers and blow.

Market does not seem to like the rumor .... stock down $4.33 ... not sure what to make of this deal. I would think the streaming music portion would be the more interesting part of the purchase. Who knows ? After not buying SEVERAL things that I think Apple missed the boat on this purchase has me scratching my head ... I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt IF this turns out to be true.

Luckily AAPL's allowed a mistake or two...IF it bought Beats. It *ahem* beats buying Nest.
But Financial Times doesn't have the rumor credibility that NYT, WSJ, Re/Code, etc. have, not that I'm aware.
There's also that thing about Beats being in competing products and all. Apple doesn't have audio quality problems.

I'm not a fan of Beats-anything. Perhaps the deal makes more sense to others with more information. Let's see if Dalrymple has a "nope" this afternoon...

WSJ and Bloomberg are now confirming the talks. Maybe Apple sees a bigger opportunity with both the hardware and subscription service. $3B sounds heavy to me.

I hope this rumor is not at all true. Don't really understand why they would spend this much money on such a company. They already have a streaming music service, and Beats's service is not that much better... The headphones and speakers... I'm sure they're high margin but... Meh.
Doesn't seem to advance a strategic priority for the company like all of apple's previous purchases. And the money involved is insane...

Not very enthusiastic, if true. Marques Brownlee, a techie YouTuber, explains that Beats Audio for laptops/smartphones is mostly a function of equalizers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdbn_pmxFic

Acquiring Beats curated music platform brings along ArtistLink and TopSpin. This means musician/artist promotional platform and direct to consumer ticket sales among other things. See linked blogpost for details. topspinmedia.tumblr.com/post/78552386781/topspin-joins-beats-musicEver thought that Live Nation's (formerly ticket master) ticket fees were outrageous? Artist to fan concert promotion and Touch Id ticket purchasing is likely on the horizon if this Beats deal is true.
