Where is everyone? Slow action. Was thinking WWDC might open with "California Love", but after listening to the lyrics for reals perhaps not...

27M Office downloads in 45 days (June quarter). Here's a WAG of what it means to June quarter EPS, depending on conversion % from free to pay (25% tax rate assumed). I'm not aware of Apple deferring revenue on non-Apple software sold with a fuse. We have 45 more days left in the quarter, but I'm confident the demand for Office downloads is front-loaded. The power of content sales makes Beats music streaming/subscription option more interesting.

Just closed out one of my first long AAPL spreads in a long time, a 587.50/592.50 (5/17) for a nice $1 profit (bought last Thurs). Call walls looking ominous, so I bailed. Sapphire names climb after analyst initiates with Buy ratingsAnd yeah, whatever wireless PoS system Apple eventually implements won't be NFC. A lot of commentators out there are using "NFC" as a generic term. Or they're retarded. Or both.

I dumped a quarter of my L-T calls near the high a few minutes ago, anticipating a re-buy for less later in the week. Thanks weekly call buyers!

Wow.
I tried on 7 pair of headphones today at the Apple store. Why are Beats headphones popular? Bass, yes. But the REAL REASON I think is VOLUME. They are L.O.U.D.E.R. than any other pair in the store. It's not subtle. (Yes, I checked Settings to be sure things were neutral for fair comparisons). I can listen to loud music. However, the Beats hurt.
Note to Tim: Watch out for exposure for hearing loss claims.

I know, the *cough* volume of complaints/claims could go up if Apple actually does buy Beats.

I bet these sound better than Beats. FWIW: The headphones that sounded best were Bowers and Wilkins P7. The B&O cans were a big disappointment. Beats were muddy, bassy and kind of chintzy looking, depending on the model.

I did something similar and tried a bunch of the headphones on display at the 5th Ave NYC store (crowded as usual). The Beats headphones were just plain louder than the other phones. The sound itself was not so bad, I can see that a certain taste would even prefer the beats sound. It was not so bad and the Bose headphones didn't impress me so much either (I own a pair of Bose noise canceling which are comfortable but not great - and a pair of their in ear phones which are superb).

I bought and returned every pair of over the ear headphones that Apple sells until I tried the Beats. None of them were really great sounding, I had a $40 set of Sony headphones and none of the expensive phones were really that much better. Almost all of them hurt my ears. I was reluctant to try the Beats because in the store I found the bass a bit overwhelming. I bought them and they turned out to be a keeper. This was about 2 1/2 years ago, maybe 3 years ago. Turned out that for the music I listen to, rock, jazz and blues they are perfect. I think for classical they would be terrible. They have been extremely durable. I have been using headphones since HS, I am 61 now, and the previous headphones would always break. I had no idea who Dr. Dre was when I bought them, didn't know they were popular with young people. I have gotten many compliments when I am out on my walks with them, so there is a coolness factor which I was clueless about. I use mine for hour walks and I spend a lot of time at my computer listening to music with them. I would say the many people on the various Apple blogs who have been putting them down have never owned them. Not for everyone for sure, but a lot of people buy them and love them. It's not just hype.

The Beats are not terrible. I eliminated them simply from the standpoint from too much bass and volume (in addition to other considerations, soundstage, build quality, etc.).
