Top o' the Morning... thought it would be the appropriate salutation given all the green we're seeing While you were sleeping: - Asia: mixed up mostly up - Europe: mixed - US futures continue looking green Snapshot news on Apple: - Per JPM this morning: "Apple Reportedly Loses Bid for Renesas’ Display Chip Business": Renesas plans to sell its majority stake in a maker of iPhone display chips to Synaptics, another smartphone chip supplier, according to unnamed sources cited by Reuters. Apple had also reportedly been in talks about a possible purchase of the stake in Renesas’ SP Driver in what was seen as a potential move to shore up its global supply chain, but the sources said those talks failed to make progress and Renesas had narrowed its consideration to Synaptics. Renesas has been looking to sell its 55% stake in the unit that is the sole supplier of display driver chips for Apple's iPhone, as it focuses on customers in the auto sector and sheds non-core assets as per Reuters. - Still having a tough time down under: As per Reuters: "Australian Apple users report 'lost phone' cyber attack": au.news.yahoo.com/technology/a/23922112/australian-apple-users-report-lost-phone-cyber-attack/ ~AND~ www.bbc.com/news/technology-27588972 - appleinsider: " Apple's iPad coming to Japan's largest carrier NTT DOCOMO on June 10": appleinsider.com/articles/14/05/28/apples-ipad-coming-to-japans-largest-carrier-ntt-docomo-on-june-10- - MacRumors: Apple Introduces Education Pricing for iPad Air and Retina iPad Mini, Now Starting at $469 and $379: www.macrumors.com/2014/05/28/apple-education-pricing-ipad-air-retina-mini/ - Jefferies out with a note this morning as well ~ reiterating a BUY and a PT $700: "Asia Trip Shows Robust Apple (AAPL) Enthusiasm, Innovation; iWatch Could Be Announced 'Any Time' -Jefferies": www.streetinsider.com/Analyst+Comments/Asia+Trip+Shows+Robust+Apple+%28AAPL%29+Enthusiasm%2C+Innovation%3B+iWatch+Could+Be+Announced+Any+Time+-+Jefferies/9528228.htmlAAPL currently $627.60 (+$1.97) Looks like (from what I am reading in a few places) that the $635-$636 level has some Fib resistance - or as Mav mentioned in aapltree.wordpress.com yesterday, the $644 level has strong resistance going back to April 2012...so if at some point it blows through that it could be even more positive OR we may pause a bit at that point and possibly retrace. HOWEVER, fundamental news (i.e. something mentioned or introduced at the WWDC) can overtake technicals ... so interesting times. Enjoy the day!

Carriers offering iPads is not a big deal anywhere. They don't have the market distorting power like they do with phones. Another channel is positive, but minor in the overall scheme of things.

A reprise of the Maiden, NC facility story: www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2014/04/25/look-inside-apples-idatacenter-north-carolina/ “The outside of the administration building has some sweet design elements, like decorative strips of terra cotta paneling in three shades of red, giving it a feeling of a desert lodge,” he writes. “The halls are festooned with huge, neatly hung photographs of tiny details iPhones and other Apple devices. Even the computer rooms seem to have an Apple vibe—they’re not so industrial. The doors to the hot aisle have frosted glass, like lavatory doors at a hip restaurant. The air-cooled facility is relatively quiet; unlike some other data centers, no earplugs required. You get the feeling you could probably eat off the server floor.”

It would be interesting to see the breakdown between 'new' and 'existing' accounts as well as account trends by age of account.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown between 'new' and 'existing' accounts as well as account trends by age of account. IMHO: Music sales are down overall. The AFFLUENT early buyers/users have all of the music they need. APP sales are up. The NEW emerging market customers don't have the same needs.

I KNOW IT IS WRONG!That exhibit looks like high culture.... Apple wants 630....out of the upper Bollinger on pretty good volume. If there is positioning for the split, not to mention WWDC upside, we could be seeing a "just buy" mentality.

Recall that since Monday was a holiday, we are trading in what is the equivalent of Thursday AM. *** So did anyone catch this happy little story, being run on Drudge Report?

Which is why I sold weekly 630's against my long June 590 calls this morning when we touched 630. Was too slow on the trigger, didn't get the best price, but I bet I don't have to buy them back on Friday.

The day the split was announced, I believed we'd hit the $100 target, and that once $100 is breached, that we'll be off to the races. I am as bullish on AAPL as I have been in years, and so is the market. I think the upcoming split is moving AAPL more than any WWDC expectations. Good to see Toni putting that idea in play, but he did use that horseshit phrase, "Law of Large Numbers." So he has no credibility. Still, he can be a useful idiot in the short term. My one concern about the split has always been being added to the Dow 30 Index. Sure, in the short run, a bunch of index funds would buy AAPL. But, despite its recent rally, the Dow was flat for over a decade, and I think of it as a repository for value stocks, not growth stocks. But looking at Visa's 2-year chart (Visa is the highest nominal stock price in the Dow), there does seem to be room for growth, even in the Dow 30, even for stocks with 3-digit prices: So, here's to hoping Apple emulates Visa in more than just point-of-sale fees.

Interesting, "low risk" acquire. Beats certainly has youth cred. Why not, let's see what happens.
