You guys I agree that the action is great, momentum is strong, split is a beautiful catalyst...
But I really start to worry when I hear things like "ATH by the end of the week." When everyone is so rosy is when I start to get nervous...

I don't watch CNBC anymore for ANYTHING, so I don't know what Jon's record is as of late. However, I agree with Phoebes that the options were BOUGHT, which is bullish. However, institutions are likely writing these calls, and we know what happens when call walls get overbuilt: It's a cause for concern. I'm not sure why he picked October though, as it would be prudent to buy November's instead to ensure October earnings is reported (the buyer is making a big bet that iPhone 6 is going to be a world-beater). These calls are not exactly cheap, with Apple trading near $650 today. Best guess is that the announcements are expected in September but who knows.

A couple of thoughts, First of all, congrats to the longs who bought the Tuesday dip. I'm still waiting for a Thu-F dip that might never come. Second, studies of what other stocks did are meaningless to Apple in 2014. Like TA, it ignores FA and sentiment. But, while we are analyzing splits of the past, perhaps we should see how AAPL did last time (Feb 18, 2005): 1 year: 2 years: 5 years: To date: And in case you were wondering, "yeah, but what about the pre-split run-up?" Here's what AAPL did the 6 weeks prior to the 2005 split:

Sentiment has clearly turned on this stock, judging by the market's reaction to a software-only WWDC and the groundswell support of its strategy. Soon, we'll be talking about when AAPL reaches $200 post-split. Apple gave its Investor page the iOS7 treatment. Looks nice. investor.apple.comHate to be a wet blanket Mercel but in my WAG, admittedly clueless opinion , AAPL 200/1400 could be very far away at the least. We'd need a huge swing in sentiment. Even though it's theoretically possible that Apple could get on an "inexorable" path to Wal-Mart-level, Apple-quality revenue (heck, "just" $300B in annual revs, even "a mere" $250B would be friggin' mind-blowing), that would take time though it'd certainly make a STRONG case for a higher multiple at that point. $1 trillion market cap companies...don't really happen. Not to say Apple isn't a totally worthy exception to the "rule", but that's something else to consider even as price per share becomes less of a psychological barrier. Plenty of room to be bullish on AAPL and make some money between 92-93 and 200 of course. Dividends are great too.

But consider, $1,400 per share would approximate GOOG's P/E today. No earnings growth would even be required of AAPL -- and we know Apple is going to have some!

AAPL STILL deserves a multiple of 25, NOW. But hey, no one ever said the market was fully rational And yes, before any asks, I get the slowing growth deal, the souring sentiment between now and October 2012, show us the growth and innovation and new product categories etc etc. But hey, Google.

AMZN holding a launch event on June 18th amid speculation that they will be bringing their smartphone. Seriously? I think I skipped a week of saying how much I dislike Bezos. Is he for real?

Though AMZN off 25% from highs, its P/E is still kinda TILT. Could be a big inflection point for the stock, if a move isn't already underway in advance of the event.
