Joe Kernen's comment (of CNBC's Squawk Box) this brings to mind that TC is always a step ahead and we don't even realize it. To the outside world and the masses - this is what the acquisition of BEATS has come to mean in many ways: "I want Iovine and Dr. Dre picking my music not Bezos!"..."Why do we need a phone from amazon?!!"

What irked me is that the headline - "The Trouble With Apple's Health App" - is blatant clickbait, phrased as if the article is about something wrong with Apple's app. In reality, the article is really about why the inherent flaws in the healthcare system will make it hard for Apple's app to change things.

The iPod and iTunes were not well received by everyone when they were first announced. APPLE's "partnership" with the Mayo Clinic is similar to APPLE's music venture. Pick the best FIRST! The rest will follow.

One can count on the NYT to write click bait about Apple. Tim needs to give them another smack down, then announce he's buying it and everyone's fired.

What does everyone make of the extremely low volume? Could it be related to the split somehow?

I don't think the split has anything to do with this volume. I think the lull in the stock price is because everyone seems to have positioned themselves for upcoming announcements ... until then those people who are not invested are going to see what Apple comes out with before getting a position in the stock ... those of us who believe Apple will knock it out of the park are already invested and are willing to take the risk in order to ride the spike ....
Well that's my take on it anyways .... could be that everyone's watching world cup (Except JD of course) and can't be bothered with the market.

Excellent news. iOS8 Beta 1 seemed buggier than iOS 7 Beta 1. Predictive text is great btw on iOS8. Downloading now.

I have a feeling I'm really gonna like predictive text on iOS 8.
Something weird is up with AAPL volume. From the pre-split equiv of 5M to...what...just over 3M?
What, this is all because of the 'ZonPhone? Eh, it's "meaningless" in liquidity terms, volatility might be another matter

Actually, I take great pride that we slaughtered some poor little African country in perhaps the one thing they are decent at, in a sport nobody in the US really gives a damn about, except maybe a little tiny bit every 4 years if we have a decent team. 'Merica! F them Giraffes!

Once Mercel gives the green light, I'll get it loaded. Only have one iPhone and can't afford to have it "non-operational". In the past the "odd" builds push new features and break everything, and the "even" builds clean things up but remove features under revamp for the next "odd". Screwed either way (until the builds close to gold-master). Restore and reinstall endless loops were my downfall for iOS 6, so I skipped the drama during iOS 7.

Anemic volume. Seems short term weak and fed day on deck...if we see some selling I would think aapl might see downside. Monday a bull trap?

My take on the light volume is this: everyone and their mother was trading this stock and whipping it around. I said early on that volatility would dampen given the number of shares. Some disagreed - that's ok - everyone is entitled to their opinion. The stock is not moving in any great way and the "players" have found other sandboxes to play in. I'm not suggesting that all day traders are gone from it but I would venture to guess that many have found other stocks to play with that are MOMO stocks. They want quick gratification and it may not be happening fast enough with AAPL any longer. AAPL is smoothing out. That's what I think is happening with all this light volume and sideways movement. Just my two cents.

Just my two cents. Might be a slow news cycle for Apple up until iPhone, and no one's really sure what's next for AAPL short-term, so both may be contributors. We'll see if the higher number of shares can "make up for" the volatility potential of lower "absolute money flow" or whatever.

Early take: the apps are still crashing in Beta 2. Wait for the next one. I have a second iPhone, so I can afford to play the role of guinea pig.

That give option mkt makers even more throw power to pin? Would have been total opposite then my expectation.

Per contract costs are nothing to sneeze at. They're up 7x for the same amount of leverage now.

Day traders need more volume to move the stock which equals more commissions. Will be interesting to see if contract volumes go down as well if some players walk away. Macwire: the bottom line for the MMs is to make $....if folks don't think this stock moves radically and quickly, they will find something else to play thus less contracts. Also, many are playing the stock instead of options now. Why? Because at these prices they can plus it is not a wasting asset with a maturity date like an option is so it buys them time. Look - I'm just chatting with some folks in the market and I'm just speculating. I can't help but feel that TC wanted the manipulation to become much more difficult and for the stock to move when there was reason for it but what do I know? Again just my opinion.

Apple specifically said it wants to make its stock more accessible. Which I read as "shareholder-friendly".
I think longer-term, it'll meet that objective.
