Good morning everyone, Hope you all had a nice relaxing weekend. The AAPL is GREEN this morning. ![](http://www.smiley-lol.com/smiley/bananas/pomme-verte.gif) As of 7:00 AAPL is trading at 101.88 +0.22 (0.22%) . It's a start, particularly since the major indices are all RED. In the news: WSJ (Paywall) has a piece Don't Underestimate Smartwatches. AppleInsider has a nice piece Apple Watch, AirDrop, iBeacon & Continuity coax advanced features from Bluetooth & WiFi. It goes in to detail on various communication protocols and how Apple has pushed the envelop. Dovetails quite nicely with some of Tim Cook's comments on Charlie Rose, providing context. For anyone who hasn't taken the time to watch the Charlie Rose interview, do it. Well worth the time. A lot of hemming and hawing whether _____ will be successful. David Carr, NYT Media Analyst, published The Magic in Apple’s Devices? The Heart. I find these 'introspective' pieces a bit trite. Space filler more than commentary or news. By now everyone knows Samsung calls Apple's iPhone 6 Plus a Galaxy Note imitation in new ad. Too bad the trial is over. Given that Samsung is now calling a similar not identical screen size copying... what does that make duplicating features and design elements? Sounds like an implicit admission. At this point, screen size is getting old. As Shrek might ask... 'do you think they're compensating?' Have a great day. Let's make money.

I did a quick ‘back of napkin’ calculation to help envisage Apple's logistical task for the forthcoming quarter: 57.5 million iPhone 6 would fill one and a half Olympic-sized swimming pools or 57.5 million iPhone 6 + would fill two Olympic-sized swimming pools …to be shipped to 115 countries by the end of the year HD’s latest podcast is worth a listen, focussing on Apple Pay. 5by5.tv/criticalpath/122Bottom line: revenue from the service will flow straight through to Apple’s bottom line with little frictional cost (GM 80%+?) BNP Paribas have raised Apple PT to $130 from $100; Outperform rating Is this true? I ordered 4 phones this weekend ... can't wait to get them. FYI: CNBC just said that the deal Apple cut for AAPL-Pay is unprecedented...nice. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

IMHO:THAT is NOT a good source.
I am sticking with 12 million for the ENTIRE weekend by 9/22
WHY? The original source is now 7 hours old. There is no other source. It is not the WAY to share numbers.

Artman - there is NO source in that article ... OF COURSE, it's not to be trusted .. but as I said, would be "sweet" if true, right?!

I'm going to have to get used to this new, open, transparent, Apple!
Press releases on first day pre-orders and iCloud hack. Charlie Rose interviews. And so much more.
I like it...

Apple's actually pretty big on standards aside from its specialized SoCs.

Apple would not give out the 24 hour pre-sale number unless it was absolutely sure the first weekend number was going to be a big winner. If there was any doubt, they hold the pre-order figure and try to make up expectations on the ground ( in store).
So much confidence at this point just pumps up the gotta have it factor for the line standers and the second tier adapter.
Rollout of Apple Pay after 50 million people download iOS 8 is fudge on the sundae.
It's all Apple, all the time.

It's all Apple, all the time.[/quote] More great news coming out than I can remember in a long time .... Great products and services and I hear very little of substance from the competition .... Future looks very bright ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) After the next two quarters, which will be massive interns of revenue, I can see more "financial engineering" to do some amazing things with the stock price. At some point WS will have to realize that even without growth AAPL will be making enough money to buy the company back in a matter of a few years .... and maybe they will stop bitching about AAPL's growth rate and realize it's not priced like a growth stock anyway ... now I'm dreaming

I am not sure how an Android One could be sold for ~$100, the bill of materials for most mid to upper tier smartphones exceeds $100, by a lot. Is this another product sold @ cost or @ a loss, just to sell units? Can Google actually sell a product this low and make money back on ads, especially in the very low end market? For the time being I think I'll keep my AAPL ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

If Google is committed to supporting Android L on a close to Droid 1-spec device, have fun guys.
Fragmenting to unify. Not to mention, the race to the bottom continues amongst OEMs while Google desperately tries to feed ads and collect data (good thing Motorola has a new patron amidst the challenge to its Moto G)
It's gonna be a fun 2015.

"Quad-core" is one heck of a misnomer.
The screen resolution says it all.

I think what GOOG is doing is SMART. If you read between the lines, there are changes in YOSEMITE & IOS8 that do not use GOOGLE in search. If GOOG is going to lose the top end, go for the middle and low. If you get a customer when they are young or new to the smartphones, you stand a good chance of not losing them to the IOS ecosystem.

You only have a good chance of not losing them until they have enough money to move on.. If Android wants to stay the Operating System of entry and iOS the Operating System for aspiration, I'll take that trade off anytime.

Apple Watch was indeed part tech demo.
It does, however, have months for Jony Ive to refine design (if necessary), the hardware and software teams to optimize efficiency and change the gumball-machine app selection, and the curation/editing teams to, well, curate and edit iWatch accordingly. They could have Anand Lal Shimpi provide industrial-strength UI beta-testing (heck, even benchmarking) week by week. And that's just him!
There's a ton of people who only know about Apple Watch via Apple's website or the ever-reliable news/Internet sources, though bloggers harp endlessly about the first impression that most everyone else hasn't really gotten. Plenty of time to improve the product and message. Don't forget the inevitable pre-launch ad campaign.
