Good morning everyone. AAPL is flat, oscillating around 119.00 this morning, plus or minus 1¢ on the refresh. Where will it wake up and go? Major indices are mixed. DOW and SP are down while the NAS is up. Several interesting items in the news this morning and yesterday: THE WSJ reports Apple’s Bigger Slice of the Smartphone Pie[$]. Pin drops -- finally. Glad someone is awake at the WSJ. Fortune reports Apple's iOS outpacing Android 3 to 1 in Thanksgiving AM sales. Well AAPL's moved back to GREEN, trading at 119.03 +0.03 (0.03%) at 6:56. Hopefully, we've decided... Have a great day. Let's make money.

I would not be too concerned with any weakness in the Dow - the majority is likely to be the oil companies. JD mentioned it yesterday as well. Airline stocks are flying (yes, pun intended). Meanwhile EU lawmakers are urging regulators to split GOOG - geez. Also, mentioned yesterday by me as an FYI: The Store giving iTunes gift cards today for purchases of certain products - ie if you buy a Mac you receive a $100 iTunes card. Also, I can't help but wonder if anyone buys as much as I do from iTunes .... I can't believe how much I spend and ever since I got the 6 it's gotten worse. I think I need to find a support group...yikes!

Came across an interesting stock filter this morning, the snowflake grid. Trying to distill investment criteria into an actionable format is always a challenge. I suspect this went too far however it is fascinating to look at some of our favorite companies. Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Intel... BTW: I had a good laugh at one of their categories, "too big to fail"...

Ideally your pie chart looks like a big fat Frisbee, able to soar long distances, theirs looks like a Boomerang, ready to snap back at any moment and hit you square in the frank and beans. Tvs are going to be huge sellers this week. The price war is fun to watch. Picked up a 65" 4K Samsung (friends and family discount even lower than BF prices). Ridiculous.

LAST Friday, I bought ONLINE for pickup later at my neighborhood WMT, a 40 inch 1080 DPI Element (assembled in North Carolina) HDTV for $115!!

When is Comcast and DirecTV going to start giving away TVs with a new subscription?
Not that I would EVER do business with DirecTV. Yes, they are WORSE than Comcast from the standpoint of monthly fee increases. Comcast is less expensive, and although I think its new guide menu is laggy, at least I'm not getting bent over by DirecTV.

So guess what the top three items are on people's Christmas lists, per Marketwatch.
My 200 contract 114-115 bull put spread expired today with a nice credit. Saved myself a $400 commission by riding it into expiry. No more call spreads for JD! In other news, I actually bought a Chromecast for $20 at Staples. No way Google makes any money on this. I would encourage you all to try one for research purposes. Last night, I was streaming Netflix off of my iPhone onto my TV. It's interface is a little clunky, and it is not streaming 1080p yet, but it really is worth a look just for the experience, as you contemplate the future of TV. Streaming STB's and dongles will increasingly become irrelevant, as every TV will eventually come with integrated video decoding abilities and wifi and flash memory and eventually even CPUs that can run an OS. Convergence is finally coming... Speaking of which, I am now 99.5% convinced that Apple launches an actual smart television. And that it will be announced in 2015. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, and are not at some mall.

What are you doing instead of Call spreads? Naked Calls?

No more call spreads for JD! With bull put spreads , you don't have to close, they just expire worthless and you keep the credit. Saves half your commissions. I am a for not doing this sooner. Then again, most spreads I don't hold into expiry. BTW, I am buying every dip until it doesn't work. Like a total loser, I slept too late and missed the usual dip about an hour in. The bar opened a night early over here.
