The state of the Apple, rough draft
Best ever in 4 product categories both in hardware and sales. 1. Mac laptops 2. iMac 3. iPhones 4. iPads
Middle of the pack 5. iPods. iPod touches and nanos improved. Not vital to revenue, but certainly vital to the iOS ecosystem
Lower down: a mixed bag 6. iTunes. iTunes has been on a gradual increase in revenue.
7. iCloud. Apple continues a mixed message on iCloud. Some features emphasized, but iDisk is cut. A good cloud is key for long term ecosystem of light consumers with multiple apple devices.

Upon further reflection, deferred revenue is a small detriment. Here's the reason. Summer sold 4.9 M Macs, vs. 4 M in Apr-June. Therefore more deferred revenue is going out than is coming in. Deferred revenue is a net benefit for this quarter EPS if this quarter is worse than previous quarter.
