Good morning everyone.
Anticipation. Will AAPL turn around tomorrow?
Enjoy your rest.

The sky is falling... That's Joe Wilcox, notorious Apple hater. He's written some doozies in his time.

Talk of an upcoming Apple Pen seems to be gaining momentum. How much could it contribute to Apple's bottom line I wonder? I've seen the first estimate for a retail price: $199-$299. I guess an Apple Pen could be classified as a wearable if you walk around with it stuck behind your ear

Nice Analysis Mav....very thoughtful. I see how you got to your numbers. I have no better insights than you but I think phones will be a bit higher, ASP a bit higher, Ipads a bit lower...but its just a guessing game at this point. You make a key point....this new(er) Apple Management knows that the analysts think and won't be caught unprepared. Forex might be a headwind on ASP and GM...fine, just explain it and explain how it will be dalt with going forward.

You don't say OMG GUYZ FOREX HEADWINDZ
And *shatter* analyst expectations with a guide $3B higher on the top-end than average expectations (which were about $63.5B for fiscal Q1 just before earnings, IIRC). Which has obvious spillover effects on at least Q2.
Maestri and Co. seem about as conservative as Oppenheimer and Co. They're not about to sheepishly justify ForEx being a "bit worse" than anticipated as they report $65B or something.
Apple Isn't Stupid Rule isn't a terrible one as they go.

This week will be all about Thursday's ECB meeting as far as the markets are concerned...but remember - at times we (AAPL) get caught in the down draft.

Now I'm starting to wonder if Jony Ive actually DID say Swiss watchmakers are...in trouble
Because that watch guy's solution doesn't sound like much of one
Who knows how that market works. Total WAG but the short-term strategy is for the Swiss to try not to LOSE anybody to Apple Watch. Aspiring fighter jet pilot wannabe start ditching Breitling when they can get multiple Apple Watches or an Edition in gold? Or losing an even higher-dollar customer? Pain.

That author of that article did a great job of reminding his readers that mechanical wristwatches are a technology. They are not immutable objects whose existence in the universe is guaranteed.
In my opinion, just like film cameras, mechanical wristwatches are about to be obsoleted. Yes, there will still be collectors and aficionados who prize them for their design ingenuity and beauty. I have a collection of film cameras, dating back 50 years, that I still use sometimes for the fun and novelty value. But there is no market for new film cameras, at the low end or the high end. It's hard to imagine, but in 10 years new mechanical wristwatches could also be extinct.

Total non-expert but seems to me luxury watches are like analog cameras except even more niche (though WAY more profitable).
We all know what happened to analog cameras. Difficult time ahead for that industry. Pun...maybe subconsciously intended.
