I will allow for the benefit of this forum that I've seen the Grand Central Apple Store (and Grand Central itself, of course), having had my memory jogged by that pic just now. Really, really nice store to go with the location. Evening photo, MB? Would explain the orange cast from all the lights. Around 12;00 a.m. left there and went to times square. We were there for my B-day in July, most exhausting trip of my life. I was amazed to see 100k people in Times square that late at night. The Big Apple never sleeps......I was interviewed for a newscast once in Times Square at 2:00 a.m. Plenty of people sticking their noses into the shot..... iPhone 5 reviews stellar....lines on Friday just got longer...

(...)There are people here who have been posting for years and for someone to come in who they do not know is hard to take. (...) Nonetheless, I expect common courtesy from everyone -- old, new, doesn't matter.

This should be an exciting start for the new Apple retail employees . . . There Are Five New Apple Retail Stores Opening On iPhone 5 Launch Week Sep. 18, 2012 With the iPhone 5 hitting stores Friday, Apple has announced five new grand openings for the week, reports Eric Slivka at MacRumors. The stores are in Spain, Germany, France, Italy and California. The one in Dijon, France is in a particularly wide Apple Store desert. The closest stores are in Lyon and Geneva — about 125 miles away. The others fill significant gaps too, like the one opening in Bakersfield, California, which has 800,000 people who have to drive 90 minutes away to Santa Clarita. This also means that there are going to be some new Apple store employees who are being thrown right into the feeding frenzy of iPhone launch week. We're sure they won't be bored. JCaron: You hold both AAPL and GOOG?! Isn't that like being a Yankee and a Confederate at the same time? Well, truly, I used to hold them both too, but realized that I didn't believe in them or their bogus rhetoric e.g. Don't be evil (and yet use yr CEO as a mole)...
Tetrachloride: How is the lack of a street view in the new Maps App a plus? Some of us are general contractors and real estate "speculators." The ability to see a house from the street and then swivel around and get a sense of the 'hood is tres useful... Explain por favor.

If Chas and MB can coexist, even after Bali Hai I guess, there's no excuse, really. Mav, Chas and I have talked to each other for 5 years. We have had our differences, but I still view him as a smart guy who has a good heart. (Has a good golf game also) We actually used to discuss trading strategies over the phone. I think Chas understands me, even my politics. We will coexist. Yes Chas beat me at bali Hai and I have forgiven him for that. LOL The 50+ mph wind took its toll on me. I was hitting the ball so good and it seemed like I could do nothing right. I relish a rematch, but we are backing up to the big boy tees. ;D

It's not a plus, but Apple had to do it.
How Apple evolves Maps from here on out is like Siri, though. A multi-multi-year endeavor. A bit like how capacitive touch in the third-gen iPod was so key to the first iPhone.

Shining example of coexistence (on account of diametrically opposed political viewpoints, and boy don't I know it from the back-and-forth from that...other forum). So again, if the Starkist Fish Guy and the Dog Mortgager can get along (/inside joke), no excuse.

Well, I guess you're right in the sense of lost privacy and making the planet an infinitely smaller place, but in terms of utility I gotta disagree. As long as I can't see people's faces, license plates or over fences and into bedrooms, then street view isn't a negative for me. Google on the other hand...

It's a little creepy I'll admit...,still...,we've used it a ton while shopping for real-estate and I use it for knowing where an entry to a parking lot is etc. in areas I'm not familiar with. There are a lot of things that just don't show up on a garden variety map. Good news is that the google maps will still be available within the browser and come to think of it, I'll bet google is already working on an app. I don't know whether Apple quit allowing updates or Google quit providing them but the experience on android was clearly superior. Competition is a good thing.

Light matters much more than thin. Holding a brick to your ear for a long call when you can't use the speaker wears down body and soul.. Couldn't agree more. I'm still a happy iPhone4 user and was considering passing on my subsidized upgrade for the first time. Then I saw the weight reduction. New one arrives Friday.

Coordinated Central Bank action will keep the pump primed for a while and offset China slowdown and Europe worries.....don't fight the Fed(s). All Asian indices went from red to green in a heartbeat.....

How Many iPhones Must Apple Sell to Keep the Street Happy? Published: Tuesday, 18 Sep 2012 | 8:00 PM ET Text Size By: David Paul Morris | Bloomberg | Getty Images Apple's iPhone 5 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wall Street has been concerned that there are still "significant supply constraints," that would limit Apple to only being able to produce about five to six million of the new phones before the end of the month, he added. "So if we get a six million unit number, that will really lay a lot of those concerns," Misek said. He expects the tech giant to sell about eight million iPhone 5 units, including pre-orders, by the end of the first weekend. Tavis McCourt, an analyst for Raymond James, also said he expects Apple to sell about 8 million iPhones during the time period leading up to the last day of Apple's fourth quarter, which is Sept. 29. Ad finitum........ Analyst statements re: Apple/AAPL have become my personal Comedy Hour. Where else, besides Wash DC, could you find so many taking a position on both sides of a subject? "If Apple doesn't do this then AAPL will go down". If Apple does this it will be a strong catalyst for AAPL". Etc etc. The fact is that nothing they say causes AAPL to do anything beyond the short term. That's because results matter, not the bullshit put forth as intelligent thought by WS. As evidence all you have to do is review AAPL's history, and compare that to WS prognostications. When it comes to listening to the 'experts' Apple is deaf as a door knob, and thankfully so.

Good grief, Japan is up 1.45%. I hope that makes its way to our shores. The wind behind our back should do wonders.

Here's something that may be of interest. As frothy as AAPL is, it's very easy for it to head up the Selling on Strength list. In fact, when it does show up it's always at the top of the list (at least as my damaged short term memory recalls).
Today AAPL made it on the Selling on Strength list, but in the number 3 position.
Since last Wednesday AAPL is up 8.8%, while volume is down almost 50%. It seems that Sellers aren't eager to let AAPL go at these prices. Or it could be that Buyers are struggling to justify AAPL at these prices.
WOW, that was easy, I could be a WS analyst.

Or...front-running shorts keep shorting and getting stopped out, and their popped stops trigger market orders to buy, fueling more upside: low-volume melt-up.

" 1) After today's action, I remain unconvinced (although hopeful) we will vanquish those 31K 700's. I'd like to see us get over 710 on Wed. 701 isn't much buffer. 2) Liking the 37K Oct 750's. I could see us getting there. Or at least 749.99. 3) Having coached an 8th grade mock court competition, I'd say the rhetorical skills of 13-yr-olds are vastly underrated.

I wanted to post to say thanks to lovemyipad and anyone else who had a hand in setting this forum up! I just got my 1st options account setup over at optionsxpress and am waiting for a transfer before I make my first options purchase. In short, expect to see a lot more of me around here!
Thanks again, I'm sure setting all this up took some time and it is very much appreciated.
