Good morning and welcome to a new trading week. And Apples Worldwide Developers Conference starts today. What’s on everyone’s wishlist? This morning’s pre-market is green at +0.33% at this moment. Tim Cook seeks Apple’s next iPhone moment with bet on VRSo, will Mr. Market “buy the news” or “sell the news”?

Predicting today will be a good day, followed by howls of ‘underwhelming’ and a retreat in the after hours.
It will then sell like hot cakes

and BOA in a heady act of derring-do raised AAPL's Price Target by a couple of bucks, that was already rendered underwater in the intraday 🚀😂

Did you see what timeframe they put on the bull case to $315? Sometimes those things are multi-year, but often even Katie puts out a fairly edge case bull case, and a fairly edge case bear side. Increasing their spread of possibilities gives them the ability to say they were right, even when their primary target didn't work out. Looking around for that article, it turns out their main target was $210 about a year ago too, before the fall. I don't blame them. Most of us get trapped into only looking for further increases, too. But it is a reminder that just because an analyst comes out with something, it might not work out. They then lowered their target to $190, and now are increasing it again. But so much of the stock market is based on emotions and the overall economy, not just in the short term but also the mid term, that you really do just have to come out with the 60% probability option, while realizing that potential black swans or even just a sinking tide may come up at any moment. Nice pricing today so far. It's always hard to know if it will stick. It is possible that with such a potentially high priced item, that it will knock the socks off of everyone. And who knows, maybe there is some way to justify the pricing even more. If it were to have an M2 in it, that was relatively similar to the M2's in Macs, would it be possible to work as a Mac Mini when the goggles weren't used? That would be a big difference from the likes of the Oculus, that when not used only collect dust. Just a wild thought, with no basis. Kinda like that Youtube video from 10 days ago. Anyone can make guesses on youtube, and then title it with something even more outlandish. Come on AAPL. Let's see a print of $185!

Predicting today will be a good day, followed by howls of ‘underwhelming’ and a retreat in the after hours. It will then sell like hot cakes BTFD Seems more like lots of speculative pre-buying, but going maybe 15 minutes past 10am as it set a relative high. And a nice head and shoulders I think, for those that look at those things. But now the stock is moving down a bit. Nothing bad announced yet, AFAIK. But if the speculative buying dried up, and nothing has been so amazing to buy like crazy today, things move down. Probably just very short term traders who helped push it up, but are trying to get out before it goes lower. I had a small sell order at 184.98. It didn't quite make it there. I think AAPL will easily exceed that, but it's a question of if it will happen within days, or will take 6-18 months. Like I've said, there are lots of unknowns out there, more-so in the economy and market as a whole, so this was just going to be a safety move, getting out of a tiny percentage. Looks like good stuff on the keynote. I missed some of the hardware early on, so will have to revisit. And the main excitement should be yet to come. Though moving on from Intel to be all Apple Silicon is a great type of thing for WWDC, just as moving to Intel was. (EDIT: finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-debuts-macbook-air-15-inch-m2-ultra-and-mac-pro-at-wwdc-2023-172848637.htmlWow, that 15" MBA sounds good. Think I might have to switch from an iMac to it, with an external display/keyboard/mouse when at my desk. Ok, will anyone actually run 22 8k videos at ones on a MacPro?)

Apple Vision PRO, WOW I'll never watch real life again. Seriously, I am amazed at the way Apple has innovated across all of its products. The hard part of what Apple does is not to build things. It's not the chip design, or the software, or the marketing. The hard part is seeing what to build. That's why Steve was so important. This is an incredibly bold step, but they made me a believer. I no longer think AR is a solution in search of a problem. I think it will be transformative and I wish I were going to be around for another 79 years to see where it leads us. My optimism is not without some trepidation. Will this connect us to the world or seduce us into an artificial bubble that isolates us? I imagine that the answer is both. Those who control their lives now will broaden their world, and those who want reality fed to them will be willingly led deeper into the bubble. I recently read an essay in Rooted by Lyanda Lynn Haupt that discussed the virtues of walking through the woods barefoot as a way to connect to nature. It left me feeling that instead of browsing the Web, I should be browsing the Whole Earth Catalog. Now this comes along at the other end of the spectrum. Well, it's nice to have a choice, I guess

Perfect setup for buy the rumor sell the news. With RSI at 77 and ATH leading into event. I did well by selling my short term options positions and buying short term puts. An extra 15% icing on top for one day isn't bad.

Ok, I just finished watching the presentations. I have one immediate thought ... you know how headphones became good noise cancellation devices? Well, this one looks like it will be able to cancel both noise and vision. They kind of mentioned that with the airplane use case.

My take on Vision Pro: If something's utility were obvious, it wouldn't be innovative. Or patentable.
I'm going to buy one just to acquaint myself with it. The custom glasses are interesting. My 80" TV is too far away to watch clearly without glasses, so I tend to watch everything on a desktop monitor.
In that video where the person is on the airplane, imagine the apps for travel. You can "see through" the exterior of the aircraft and see exactly where and what you are flying over, with complete mapping. Hey, what's that down there?
I'm sure the footprint will get smaller and smaller with time.
I wonder what features the market thought that Apple left out of a product no company on earth is even close to making.
I was surprised at how positive the Twitter comments were.

Who has ordered one and what do you intend to do with it? It isn't coming out until 2024. I think Apple wanted to announce it and then give developers 6 months to code apps for it, rather than launch it with no apps. Hard to secretly seed developers with a prototype and not have it leak and kill the "One More Thing" announcement.

Busy travelling around France, so don’t have time to say much, but here are some quick comments
1. The engineering panache shown is this thing is mind blowing. No one but Apple could do this. The elimination of a physical interface and moving to eye tracking and air gestures is only one example. Just wow. So much new stuff showing world class (not even close with prior devices) engineering blows me away.
2. This won’t move the financial needle for quite a while. Form factor, price, battery life and lag time in creating compelling apps will ensure this.
3. At some point, this class of device will be mainstream. Who knows when, but Apple will lead.

I'm sure the footprint will get smaller and smaller with time. I wonder what features the market thought that Apple left out of a product no company on earth is even close to making. I was surprised at how positive the Twitter comments were. I just watched it again, hitting the parts I missed. I got a long call in the middle of the live stream, and then had to help out with some pizza dough. And that's the thing, that real life can pop up at any minute. Still being part of "real life" is important. Even if I'm not certain those soccer ball shots were of the same take, they showed something other than a person isolated in their device. Lately we have had that a lot at home, but even just with a single AirPod, playing music or a book, or people reading a book. No solution is going to take things back to the day of no distracting devices, especially if a physical book is still enough of a distraction. But making it possible to not be isolated is a move in the right direction, while also doing such with the AirPods (was that the SJSU marching band? And I'm betting they had to rent those gas blowers, since they have probably gone to battery ones on the Apple campus). That was a ton of info to try to take in. Not everyone is a perfect presenter, but I think Apple has really done well with distributing the presentation, both to show that Apple is made up of many parts, and to give some credit. And Craig wasn't ducking around with that triple guitar. Fun times. The stock might be down for the day, which is a little disappointing, but with double the average volume and the way things were moving, there were a lot of short term traders trying to make some money. It seemed like solid announcements all around, including a ton of products available to order today and ship next week. This seems like one of those times there might be as much as a day or two to digest the news, but that analysts will come in and confirm or raise their targets, while also praising the announcements even if they minimizing predictions for the Vision Pro for now. But this could be one of those times that by the end of the week, the stock is at the top again and maybe even pushing 190. And look at that naming. "Vision Pro". Like many do, push out the high end low volume initial product at a high price point for the early adopter and Pro market. And then there is room below in the future, for a non-Pro model.

Dumb Dan Nathan - always wrong but never in doubt - was squawking about the price point on Vision Pro. This thing is essentially a 100" TV, a computer, and a gaming/movie entertainment system rolled into a single device that sits on your face (maybe Tim should have done that three thing in one demo that Steve did with the iPhone launch). BuT i WaNt It fOr $5o0! Yeah, Facebook, nice comparison. Because when I think of successful consumer electronics companies, Facebook pops into mind. I shudder to think how less rich I would be if I'd listed to that moron on $AAPL.

And from the teenager perspective, my son just walked in from school and asked if I had watched the Apple announcements. Said how cool the Vision Pro was, the price point, and then something about $1500 in parts. And how the iPhone taping transfer was cool.
I think they are learning something at HS, but it seems to be a different curriculum than we had. Consumerism 202B? I'm hoping the best parts were at least condensed down to a quick TikTok or something, but the last couple weeks of school are always tough, even without the distraction of new Apple announcements.

An extra 15% icing on top for one day isn't bad. It does seem to be that way, a higher RSI going into it but not extremely high. Looking at the chart, June of 2022 and 2021 were only middling. June 2020 had an RSI of around 70. If we see relapse of the 3 month action from there, I guess we'll just have to all sit back and suffer through... schrts.co/GVkzgzxVBring it!

Except for gaming, I just don't get the new headset. Just seems unnatural to wear, and hardly user-friendly.
Despite its elegant design and stability, it still seems weird. Not a natural form of communication among people.
And as for a bigger, beautiful screen when using your Mac, there is some hope. But just not fun to take on and off.
For all the research and development, except for gaming, I think it is a negative.
PS And I sure hope I am wrong !
