Nothing gets Apple 2.0/3.0 going like a little embarrassment. They've been chastened (really shoulda called it a beta, guys) and set to work and so we track Apple's progress from here. As has been mentioned elsewhere, Apple DOES have better maps in certain important locales. Like, say, China... anthonydrendel.com/blog/2012/9/24/ios-maps-and-china.html (found via Gruber) While the negative reviews focused exclusively on the bad data that the maps display, what strikes me is the way the maps work and how they display the data. I think that the latter is a significant improvement over the google way. The new approach is already better. The data will get better rapidly when hundreds of millions of people start using the product. Especially if a few people actively submit their corrections. So I am an optimist. By the way, nice place around here...!

Heading into tomorrow, I'll see how AAPL absorbs any Foxconn news/editorial and keep my reference points handy. Watching 683 (today's low...is that what you call a "pivot low"?) to 686 (38.2% retrace of 656-705 move), and I'd prefer AAPL resume surfing the 690-700 channel at a minimum. I guess regaining the 8-day EMA (current around 693) would considered constructive by some?
Best case, AAPL moves with or has relative strength on a market up day with good-volume buy action.

I have nothing against Robert, and Braeburn is a great board with a very specific interest, but I find it sort of curious that he himself left AFB to set up his own board, albeit not under such crazy circumstances and drama. And now he has come back to do something with AFB, not quite sure what that is. Cremation does come to mind. ;-)

I will also say while I like the proboards forum format, I would LOVE vbulletin or phpBB, and I'm SURE everyone else here would as well. Like macentropist mentioned, there are some very well developed forum platforms out there. If you adopt the url aaplfinance.com, there wouldn't be any problem making a transition to one of them. Just a thought... OMG!!! Just shoot me now!!!

So, to the business at hand. aaplfinance.
I am way long, almost all common, though a few Jan 13 580's still lurk, and like the sponge add more common whenever the paycheck allows. I bought 8 shares at 687 today, and that turned out well. I will add at this level every time it is below 700, as the paycheck allows. Much like I did at 620, and 570 and 424 and 387, you get the trend. I still have commons at 13 bucks.
As the recipient of too may option misreads, I really enjoy just being a very long term buy and holder.

Foxconn: There seems to be TWO sides to the story. FWIW: I think both stories could be true. I don't see Cult of Mac to be a tool of Sammy, GOOGLE, HFTs, Conspiracy guys, etc.... Foxconn Technology Group said it expects limited impact on production after resuming operations today at a China factory where fighting between almost 2,000 workers left 40 hospitalized. “Overall it probably won’t be significant because this factory mainly does a lot of components, auto electronics, consumer electronics and precision molding” and not finished products, Louis Woo, a spokesman for the Taipei-based company, said by phone today. “If we lose just one day, I don’t expect it will impact any finished goods significantly and, with overtime, we could make up any shortfall.” www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-24/foxconn-to-resume-production-at-taiyuan-following-closure.html OR is it 10 dead? www.cultofmac.com/192461/foxconn-riot-much-worse-than-first-thought-10-reported-dead/

Mark, you are incorrigible…
Proboards for the time being can be good, it is a known commodity, with a decent IOS App, that can have aaplfinance.com point to, as Love figures things out, and the community builds. Should the board outgrow PB, many options exist, the domain name and the branding are what matter IMHO.
Even Love on day one said this was a temp casa, lets just move into new digs, and put a name and address on the place for the future.
2 qtrs...

OMG!!! Just shoot me now!!! That is a termination post if I ever saw one. ;D We are cruising down the highway in the equivalent of a Ford Fiesta when we could be riding in a BMW, Ferrari or some other European brand! Yes we will eventually get there, but why not go in style??? I have spent what feels like half my life in forums (tech, enthusiast etc). vbulletin is awesome while phpBB isn't far behind. But I will be more than happy to stay right here. I do like Ferrari's though. :-)

if you Google: LOVEY'S PLACE AAPL; the first reply website to appear is this one! ;D ;D I registered domain LOVEYSPLACE.ORG in case we decide to go official.. My treat LOL! I'm just reading this just now. Too sweet! Hey, would it work if we had various URLs just pointing here? I did switch the proboards name to: aaplfinance.proboards.com

My vote goes to whatever ilovemyipad wants to do. I thought we were here to build our personal portfolios by leveraging the collective knowledge of the group, with exceptional results I might add. I didn't know that "building a brand" was on the agenda.

Love,
You can have 200 domains all pointing here if you like, though the branding becomes clouded. ( as does SEO, Metrics, Ad Revenue futures, Street Cred, and 1000 more potential participants ).
Please keep the branding cap on with your great charting cap.
you have my pennies.

Mark - I saw your very personal post earlier today. I have a similar story...I'll share it with you if we meet one day. I'm not willing to divulge my scars sources publicly. I can say hard days, like you had today, I've had in the past. The stress can be brutal....paralyzing if you let it. If bad investments don't bankrupt you, when the smoke clears, they only make you stronger and a better decision maker in the future. Hang in there man.

Lstream, just add a new URL in the PB app to reflect the change. Ya, just did that and it fixes the problem.

Love,
Making the name change is a case in point to continuity. Not to be done lightly, without the pre thought of ramifications.

When greedynoob (great name!) reported the call, at 2:16 pm, Apple was at 686 and rising. Figure Zaky made the call about 15 minutes earlier, when Apple was at 684. The stock then rose steadily over the next hour to 692. So in the short term, he made a good call. Tomorrow? We shall see. By the way, I also watch to see when Lovemyipad buys, because she's conservative in her calls and also very good. Awwww....you're sweet, P! Watch me on my buys, but DON'T necessarily watch me on my sells because I tend to take the money and RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know that "building a brand" was on the agenda. icam, branding is not an agenda, it is a reality. Whether it is for two folks, or twenty million, all with the belief that the reason the board exists is to further the few, or the many that share similar interest! A good domain assists greatly in that effort, a short domain is even better, one that reflects the board, icing on the cake. Domains are very portable, and are not tied to any specific technology, or forum provider! 13 bucks.
