Well aware iPad. What's next is the key.
Can AAPL work off or sustain the overbought reading? It'll be tough.

Tiny bit of bullish divergence on MACD-h daily if price action holds up. You mean bearish? Weekly MACDh finishes with bullish divergence. Next week will be telling IMO.

Not that it means anything but I drew a couple of yellow lines on your chart in the MACD (3,10,0) There seems to be 5 small ascending valleys mixed into 3 larger ascending valleys. Would be interesting to see the correlation between this and EW. Hmmmmm.....very interesting! I will take a looksee...

Wait, that IS bullish divergence today on the daily, right? Lower price, higher MACD-h reading.

Just noticed, we might have a cup and handle in progress. Interesting.
Too bad we're so close to mega-distortion-potential events.

Wait, that IS bullish divergence today on the daily, right? Lower price, higher MACD-h reading. Yes. But MACDh is now reversing course.

That depends on what you mean.
MACD-h momentum is fading, yes, and MACD-h will probably fall for the next couple days. OTOH, the MACD-h weekly also reversed course for a while.
BA reversed course a bit more. Tried a hyper-speculative BPS play because of it.

So what do you call it when the MACDh starts to fall/rise? I've always called that divergence.

Divergence is when price goes one way and MACD-h goes the other way.

Divergence is when price goes one way and MACD-h goes the other way. I understood that. But man, I feel dumb having called a falling MACDh divergence all this time.

LOL, Doc! Well, if MACD-h starts falling while price is rising, that WILL be divergence!

What an oddly perfect setup.
The "can AAPL stay overbought" question to be answered riiight around earnings...

I would phrase the question: Can the change in composure hold? Getting to overbought levels a second time in such a short interval...well...just look at the Fast STO.
Doesn't mean GUARANTEED HOME RUN of course - I didn't trade today. But price action is constructive today at least.
Better go dust off my chart again soon...

I wish we knew the current short interest (not the delayed). That worked well for us (in retrospect, after we had the data) last time... ;D As Redler said today: trap the shorts and get the bulls to chase. ;D

What I like about apples aggressive buy back is that it lets the people buying and selling shares of apple- to influence options - that there is another player at the table. I think this makes the pigs who have been treating apple like a piñata - run for cover.
Game on.

DAILY CHART: If we're flying outside the upper BB, this move today could be analagous to PCLN last week after it reported earnings and shot up like 50 points. In that case, it retraced about 35 of those. Of course, it could short squeeze to cover the gap from January earnings, but I would think we would want to rest a little and get the technicals looking better. At least that's what I am hoping, since I sold on the way up to 489. FWIW, Scott Redler sold the last of his AAPL on the pop, saying it had reached his target.

I'll probably trim and net reduce capital risk tomorrow. So tempted to let the Oct 550s ride. May compromise and just put in a high-level stop.
I think my new Jan 14 butterflies should be OK though. NOT the weekly side bet hedgy ones that executed because AAPL flew through the ceiling though. Good thing I set a pretty low net debit for those...
