Just a guess, but I believe Tim & Apple would fight any legislation requiring "backdoors" all the way to the Supreme Court. This legislation would also effectively kill sales outside the U.S.

I always thought the TV idea was silly. What do you hate about your current TV? It has very little to do with the display hardware and everything to do with content and how you interact with it and the price you pay. Look at Apple TV, a bunch of channels that you have very little idea what's on them. Discovery is difficult. If you know what you're looking for, not so bad but still, way too many hoops to jump through. Hell, my biggest pet peeve is constantly changing the input between, cable, Apple TV and the Tvs smart hub offerings. Have waiting for something better from Apple for a long time, June can't get here soon enough. I wanna cut the cord but until there's better sports offerings, that's not going to happen. This thing could easily run to $145. Let's hope we can test the old highs. Too many great earnings piling up.

"Citing “many years of rumors,” Mr. Icahn said he expects Apple to start selling 55-inch and 65-inch ultra-high-definition sets next year, generating revenue of $15 billion in fiscal year 2016 on sales of 10 million units." $1500 each? Last year, 7 days BEFORE Black Friday, Walmart had an online sale. I bought a 40 inch ELEMENT 1080 DPI HDTV for $105.00ASSEMBLED IN USAI don't need higher definition than 1080. I can see too much on the screen already!

My biggest issue with TV programs are the advertisements. In the early days of cable, the allure involved paying for content, so you didn't need to see advertising. Fast forward, and all cable channels have advertising. Apple has pushed hardware and their killer app is lack of advertising. I'm having a flame war on LinkedIn right now, with people who continue to argue that "there is no compelling use case for an Apple Watch" and that "nobody will pay $600 for an extension of their mobile phone." Why pay Apple so much money when you can get something with the same basic features for $100? My extra $500 buys me LACK OF HASSLE, for the life of the product. And at that price, it is a bargain. Sure there are aspects of the Apple experience that are annoying. But none of them are aspects that slow me down.

Resonate you are so right - what ever did happen to no commercials on cable. Boy that was short lived. I guess funding just wasn't there is my guess. I am always donating to PBS but someone like my mom who watches it all the time NEVER donates a penny. If you rely on that paradigm you find yourself on these never ending fundraisers that are just as annoying as commercials in some respects and I am assuming that they have thought about simply charging a fee and have come to the conclusion that it would not be a sustainable model for them. It's a shame but I understand.

Interesting point Rezonate.
I subscribed to HBO Now when it came to TV. Was going to drop Netflix but instead have decided to drop HBO. Why? The commercials at the beginning of everything drive me crazy. I'm paying $15 a month yet they place commercials in front of everything.
I stopped buying DVD's because of all the crap at the beginning.

www.macrumors.com/2015/05/19/apple-releases-new-15-inch-macbook-pro/Both nice upgrades...or maybe downgrade for the cheaper Imac...I wonder if the specs will handle expectations for the monitor? So, I can get a 5k TV for $1,999 and the Mac is free? If I am streaming content, isn't this the deal? Maybe not top of the line, but good enough?

My quick analysis (same as what I posted here a year ago and two years ago, and elsewhere). In general, I WANT Apple to choose to not make products that they don't believe they can earn sufficient margin on them for a sufficient amount of time to make it worth doing. And right now, I believe that the TV industry is nearly a commodity business with commodity-like returns. Even a much superior TV probably wouldn't have enough sales to overcome a decent TV attached to a box that can do a goodly portion of what the superior TV can do. And if that's the case, it may be more worth making a superior box (connected to the TV) than making a superior TV (with the functions of the box embedded).

OK, now I'm worried. The infamous Alex (Bat Guano) Gauna said on CNBC today about Uncle Carl's $240 target that AAPL "could absolutely get there." No link, easy to find if you want to.

Very nice mid-day action here. Holding above 130.60 or so would be really positive. I see we bounced around there and held...but now we have to get through the 90 minutes left.

Apple Watch will be in the stores in June.....I suspect we are seeing the early production problems getting ironed out. www.macrumors.com/2015/05/19/apple-watch-retail-stores-june/Note that this article really has nothing official..just supposition...but there has to be some progress being made. I hope all the on-line orders from April get filled..soon!

I am so lost - my daughter and I keep tapping each other and have no damn clue what we are doing ... I think I will go for the tutorial but I'm cracking myself up. I keep scribbling in WTF and she keeps sending me these illegible scribbly thingys - I'm crying. We're creating a new language. Seriously - I need to learn this thing.

Wait, what!?? Might this be the most important disclosure in your link, firestorm? That the bank’s authority would lapse if Congress fails to act gives opponents a key tactical advantage.“We in Congress can do what we do best, and that is nothing,” said Rep. John Fleming, R-La.

Actually the Export-Import Bank would not be facing this much pressure if they would switch from the accrual accounting method to the fair-value method required of public banks in the US, this would of course lead to greater transparency and create a $2B loss over the next 10 years instead of the claimed $10B surplus under the accrual method of accounting. Just more big government cloaked policies designed to fleece the taxpayer and another way for you to bring up your political views so you can blame someone else for bringing it up. Since this has been in the financial news for awhile I really don't think that it would be the reason for the downturn as the markets usually react to news stories a little quicker than that.

Apple Watch software update is available. I downloaded it and installed, but haven't tried it out yet. Supposedly, Siri has improved.

Glad to hear you are all for handouts to big corporations. You must have stock in Boeing, since IO is known as "Boeing's Bank." Two-thirds of the Bank’s loan guarantees in 2013 backed Boeing sales to rivals of U.S. airlines. #CorporateWelfare This taxpayer-fleecing boondoggle is an anachronism from the Depression era, meant to stimulate trade with the Soviet Union. Why do we need this in the modern era? At a time when Democrats are fighting against their own freaking president on a free trade bill? And the B-52 just turned SIXTY. Yeah, let's cut a bomber program as China builds up its military with all of our money. Genius.

EW boys looking for a little pull back to somewhere around the $127-ish area potentially and then back up to about $133.64. Again, as always, not all of them are in agreement.
