I don't think Apple has anything to worry about re: the new Google hardware. A couple sites I've seen (Ars & VB) call the Pixel C clunky and disappointing - closer in size and functionality to an iPad Air than the Pro and priced accordingly at $499. Its keyboard has some chopped down keys with a strange layout. The new phones are OK, though the fingerprint readers are on the back, which some are calling awkward, and the specs and performance are similar to two year old Androids apparently. Also some say they're too big with fat bezels. As well there's very little new with their OS . . .

My only fault with TC is that software has lacked real user friendly development.
The iCloud is still confusing since intro 3 years ago. Apple Music needs tutorial videos to figure out. I still don't know how to get all my music back after upgrading to 6S.
When it comes to search and maps Google is running circles around Apple. Search royally sucks for basic programs such as email. With maps, if you don't know the correct spelling of business it does not exist. Never mind that it still lacks many businesses. I have lost track of bad directions with Apple Maps. Been using Waze and it rocks with such simple features.
I have concluded that $3 billion for Beats was a waste of money. Polls show only 35% will sign up for Apple Music. That is a vote of poor satisfaction.
Luckily for us even mediocre Apple products are not enough to derail iPhone and Mac sales.
I am confident things will improve, but given the size and focus of the company it will take a few years like MS.

Samsung and other phone makers who use Android must not be happy with Google's announcement , there was already many signs of trouble with Android partners and this should only make things worse , all good news for Apple and iOS IMHO.
Unfortunately .. AAPL and Apple have nothing to do with each other at this point.
I'm hoping $110 holds but I have my doubts .... I'm not into technicals but rather general sentiment and general sentiment is really bad right now .....

From Ben Evans site.
"But the reason I'm reminded of the GM story is the old computing term about 'eating your own dog food'. Nexus devices and 'official Google' devices are not Google's dog food. They're not what actual customers use.
The Nexus 7 sold only 7m units in almost a year and was only 10% of 'activated' Android tablets, on Google's numbers. The Nexus 10 appears to have sold under 1m units. There's no strong indication that the Nexus handsets sell in large volumes, and rumours from Korea are for just 4m (global) unit sales of the most recent model in six months (it sold out at launch, but we don't know the order size). One can argue about why this is - distribution, branding, sales commissions, consumer awareness etc - but the Nexus phones aren't on anyone's list of top-selling or top-used Android phones that I've seen. This is device manufacturing as vanity publishing.
Hence, for a Google employee to use a Nexus is like a GM exec test-driving a ringer. They're using 'Android'. It's great. But that's not the phones the customers are getting. They're not eating their own dog food."

I was going to post earlier when we started to fade that I bet we close red today. AAPL has definitely fallen out of favor on Wall Street. The question for me is can even stellar earnings turn it around, I suspect not. The narrative is going to be "but the next quarter is going to be a tough compare". Buckle your seat belts, it is going to be an annoying ride
(And now that I have said that, I'm perfectly happy for it turn around and make me look foolish.)

Technicians on the twitters are passing around charts that say a test of 105 is in our future, followed by huge legs down if that "fails."
Makes zero sense from a fundamentals / valuation perspective, but hey, neither does 109.

WOW, even Carl news is not moving AAPL... @carl_C_Icahn: I am seriously considering buying more Apple $AAPL[/] That headline gets buried ... but I keep getting news alerts about how Carl thinks the market is "Overvalued" .... of course they never really elaborate and point out that he has said on several occasions how undervalued AAPL is .....

I tried to find it as well .... nowhere . How about a link ? I guess it doesn't really matter much anyway but it would be reassuring to see.
His "Danger Ahead" talk is not doing the already skiddish markets any good ...... I can say I've never seen so much contradicting info regarding the state of our economy .... maybe it's because we are getting close to the election but it's easy to fool yourself into thinking this economy is firing on all cylinders or is completely off the rails ... the truth is probably somewhere in between ...

Got it. Looks like he said it on CNBC and not in a tweet.
I think his mixed/nuanced messages are losing him credibility in general. "The market is overvalued and due for a crash, except for aapl which is undervalued, plus the economy sucks and Donald Trump will save us" is not exactly the kind of message that will help aapl in this market.

There may be several reasons for you to not to vote for Trump, but bad for AAPL? Trump said recently that he is for a foreign corporate earnings repatriation to be taxed around 10%. Tim Cook would take that deal in a second. Imagine Apple repatriating 90% of its foreign cash. You think that would be a bad quarter for AAPL? Now I'm just going to stop there, as I have to give certain members of the forum a couple hours to get a tube of Preparation H on their Amazon Prime Now free trials for their butt- and ear-hurt.

I still don't know how to get all my music back after upgrading to 6S. . . . I strongly concur with the above. My specialty is HCI, and under TC, things are slowly degrading on a user-friendly basis. And HCI was always my endearment to Apple.

WOW, even Carl news is not moving AAPL... @carl_C_Icahn: I am seriously considering buying more Apple $AAPL Because "considering" means that he expects it to drop so he can buy more. "Bought" means that he already decided and already bought more.

Agreed. Not much different to the Pope hanging out with Kim Davis, imo. Weakens the message and undoes a lot of good. If Trump were taken a little more seriously as a contender, it would be different. But that he himself doesn't seem to take himself seriously just makes Icahn seem tone deaf and alarmist. That said, Icahn may be right about the market. If so, I suppose that would help Trump. His experience with bankruptcy could end up being a positive. Politics are such a blast!

I think Ichan is getting cold feet. His predictions are half right.
A year ago he wrote a letter predicting eps would grow 40%. That turns out correct.
He also thought Apple should be at 204 by now.
A year later it is at the same price. He is frustrated to say the least along with all of us.
