I agree but these comments sort of imply that the PPS would be the same regardless of the buy backs. We'll never know. There would have been several "misses" in there without the slightly jacked up EPS. Did Apple know that China was going to slowdown like it has, did they know the FX headwinds would be as strong and last as long as they have? In regard to the buybacks, I'm always reading how Apple is giving back to the shareholder's X amount of dollars via buybacks and dividends. I get the dividends, I want to see them increased, but the bulk of the money goes to buybacks and I just don't see how that goes back to shareholders in practice. I see and understand the theory, but it seems like it has been a giant waste of shareholder value with the stock now in the 90's. No Apple didn't know about the China slowdown, and FX headwinds, that's why I believe it is almost impossible to time the market. For what it's worth I have been long since year 2000 with no selling. I intend to hold and collect dividends.

Max pain is still showing as $100 - Hope to see that on Friday... come to think of it, TODAY felt like kinda max pain...
May take awhile, but if it plays out as it has before AAPL will go back up.
FWIW - Cramer pumped the AAPL services storyline tonight.

I've had the urge to vomit the last 24 hours, and this board is not exactly Pepto Bismol.

I was most concerned with the guidance. It seemed much lower than anyone expected. I think it will be a drag on us all quarter know. As the FUD cranks up I would not be surprised to see 75 again. Now how do I make money from that?

Mr Cook said great things are happening at at earnings release. He should stop some of the stealth and secrecy an give investors something to bite on. After all, competitors will copy eventually or be late to market anyway.
