Getting tight on the apex of that wedge, and the Bollinger bands are about as tight as they have ever been on the daily. Looks like we are in for a big move one way or the other. Grab some popcorn, this could be interesting.

Well, we've broken (or are very close to breaking depending on how you draw it) the downtrend line. IF we get follow through, where do you start to trust it? Break of 550? break of 571? 575? Bollinger bands have started to widen with a touch of the top line, something we haven't seen since late November. Could this be a change in character?

IMHO, as long as price maintains over 535, it's a legitimate breakout.

Yep! On account of wedge resolution/breaking a key controlling downtrend line. Obviously early days with more to prove, but I think it's a breakout all the same.
It doesn't mean 600 or even 550 by Friday. It may even fail. But for now it is what it is.
Today it's OK price action - may be resting, may be failing, that's where we have to make the call and act (or not) based on conviction or lack thereof

Holding 535 would be nice. I'm still just trying to track trendlines.

Btw, IS it really just because of a massive SPX put buy or something?
Nasdaq was already going negative on its own, and the SPX wasn't doing a stellar job holding the gap before the put buying began.
Also, the put buy finished up at 1PM or so, so it's not like some shock at the close. Not like I know anything at all, but I'm not sure the "reason" explains the price action. The put buy didn't help, but I'm not seeing it as a "cause".

Your chart FINALLY loaded! Agreed on the downtrend line, though looks like your line is probably somewhere between the blue and green ones I have. Same difference though - if AAPL breaks below it probably won't be subtle. AND no one short of intraday types will be able to do anything but it, but...*sigh* Hey iPad, you might be onto something with that red line. You might have to adjust it a bit but imagine it going back to...last April. aapltree.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/aapl-daily-032214close-purpletrendline.pngThere's now a H&S on the 15-min, call the measured moved target about 530 if it triggers (it's on the borderline right at close IMHO). 530 isn't disaster but it sure would sound like "breakout failure". Not something I'd want to see getting close to earnings. The price support story for AAPL has a chance of getting better depending on the cash update to the be announced around earnings. I'm leaning bearish or at least not bullish into earnings without product news or a cash update very soon.

Technicals still positive. Hourly BBs before positive resolution = WHOA...3.4 pts. That kind of volatility compression is no joke. (get it)
