Apple, making friends and influencing people with their censorship policies. Well, at least the Biden DOJ is on their side! Well, gosh JD, I am shocked that you left out some of the facts included in the story: "Whether or not the House panel can take action is another matter. Attempts to prove an anti-conservative bias have failed so far, with multiple studies showing no evidence of these leanings. There's also evidence that platforms like Facebook made exemptions for right-wing content that violated misinformation policies, fearing a backlash if they enforced their rules consistently."

And in last week's Jordan hearing looking for alleged left-wing info suppression we learned from Twitter execs that the Trump White House asked Twitter to remove the "pussy-ass bitch" comment made by Chrissy Teigen re: Trump, which they did... It's all unprovable, inflammatory, sensational nonsense. Sorry about the politics, but JD opened the door.

Wasn't that reported before? Also sold Taiwan semi after a huge jump in the share price. That's a quick trade for him.

To move back to AAPL, we're doing quite well, especially considering how red most of the market is.

That is unfortunate. But true across the board, not this board. The Bezos Post just ran a story or editorial saying objective reporting was a white male value. It therefore has no value. Objectivity in reporting just gets in the way. A short time ago the NYT ran a story saying they deliberately did not cover shootings of white males by cops. I think their agenda is clear.
The tearing in the cultural fabric in all areas especially cities in the norm. Crime in Oakland is unbelievable. We have gone from Mayberry RFD to a dystopian 1984 colony where homeless inhabit inner cities and crime is the norm. Apple needs to distance itself from this political theater and avoid taking stands that make it a target. If you thinking charging a dime for a paper bag will end global warming or not allowing someone to talk will change the world, you are delusional. So Apple needs to focus. The extremes of both parties can't be the engine that floats the Apple in the barrel. To mix metaphors.
Bring back the Cinema display, that is something useful.

Well, perhaps it's clear to you. I couldn't care less about the NYT's *agenda*...I get my news information from multiple sources. But what I know for certain is that when my two sons were learning to drive(one is now 50, the other 53) and would be in public by themselves, I never felt the need to tell either of them how to behave if they were stopped by police..."Keep your hands were they can be seen"..."Don't make any sudden movements", etc. It wasn't until recently that I learned that people of color make *certain* to cover those important topics with their young children...I'm going to go out on a limb and guess those words of caution are *seldom* passed to white children by their parents.

I haven’t any doubt that there are those on the inside that receive an early heads-up on what’s about to be said. There is way too much money to be made with such information. If the Fed isn’t careful they will have a full blown recession on their hands and it won’t be pretty.

... I never felt the need to tell either of them how to behave if they were stopped by police..."Keep your hands were they can be seen"..."Don't make any sudden movements", etc. It wasn't until recently that I learned that people of color make *certain* to cover those important topics with their young children...I'm going to go out on a limb and guess those words of caution are *seldom* passed to white children by their parents. Part of it, and really only part of it, applies to everyone. 18 years ago I was pulled over by a young kid in his Camaro CHP car, I think bothered that I moved over a lane, safely, but in front of the car he was tailing. I got the ticket, and then got to learn how to fight tickets, and dive into the rabbit hole. Even at that time, the sites wanted you to pull over in a safe place, keep your hands on the wheel, ask before getting things from your pocket or glove box, etc. I won't say it's the same thing. There are always biases, racial or otherwise. To hear a brother-in-law got a ticket for "not wearing a seatbelt" when his friends and he were pulled over in the LA area, when they "were doing nothing wrong" and didn't get a ticket for anything else. I can pretend I wasn't getting the full story, but odds are it was at least partially racially motivated. But some part of it is the pent up anxiety and stress any officer must face. Sadly, while there are many stories of things going wrong for either side of the equation, it also changes the whole structure. Last year at the beach, when buying a park pass, I didn't know if helping out the woman ranger by holding open the screen door while she unlocked the door would be seen as a bad thing, while she was armed with both a real gun and a stun gun (maybe pepper spray too, for bears and drunks). It's sad when it doesn't feel right to do the courteous thing of holding a door for someone.

There was some culling, but a lot of it was just figuring out who was good and who wasn't. And it was a lot easier to let someone go who was still a contractor. In the group of 8-10 that started in my group near me, roughly half were eventually hired. And this was while going into the hiring freeze Apple had in the 2001-2002 timeframe. It is tough to differentiate employees from contractors sometimes. LLNL had that problem, where they had to differentiate them further to keep from having legal problems. At the time, the only thing that really sucked was not getting to go to the huge party Apple threw at Moffet Hanger One for the release of 10.0 or 10.1. There might have been a few more badge restrictions, making getting out of the beer bashes on some Friday evenings after 5 a problem. But nothing that was too much of a problem. It is funny when ho-hum architecture becomes a gripe. The Infinite loop campus was nice, but some of the "off-site" building had their perks too. I'll always remember the amazing 220° views of the Cupertino hills I had from the 4th floor lab, along with the occasional acrobatic squirrel or flock of parrots. Fun times...even without free snacks.

Picked up our iPhone Pro today to complete our 4 pack. The iPhone to iPhone data transfer went smoothly this time, as it should. The number porting didn't go quickly, but eventually worked. It turns out, at least with AT&T, the transfer code is now only good for 4 days (used to be 6 I am told), so our first 2 attempts failed. But then I logged into their site, requested a new code (previously we did this with a call, this time it was through their website), applied it, and it worked.
I talked with the manager some more. She said there are no delays to get any of the levels of iPhones anymore. In the T-Mobile store, she said they only get the low memory level, generally just in one color, having people order if they want anything else. She said there haven't been delays with the Pros for about a month.
Unlike the iPhone release, where she gets them just a few hours in advance, she has a slew of Samsungs for the release tomorrow. She said since there are some problems even moving between Android types, like Samsung to Google, that lots of people stick with what they have/know. I mentioned how so many of the phones look the same. She said it call comes down to cameras, driving what people get. So they don't have too many of the low end ones going out. And people like to stick with what they are familiar with, so some people like sticking with the stylus option. She had, 2, the Moto that I saw and I think it was a TLC that I say today. She said some people are drawn to the foldable, but that the 2k price limits it.
I asked what android she liked, trying to get at what she would recommend to people, and she said she was an iPhone girl, going back to the first one.
I don't think that store is a great representation of all t-mobile stores, but I know what donuts they like, so I might have to stop on by sometimes to get some data. Though probably the most important general item is finding when they go from constrained to not, which can also be found on Apple's site. But with TJ's next door, and Costco around the corner, I might just have to make an excuse to drop on by.

Different experience. I grew up in a small town in working class PA. We all were told not talk back to the cops, do as they say, yes sir, no sir. The thought of driving away from an arrest or fighting with a cop was not even something any of the dumbest entertained. Not get out of the car until told, have the license and registration accessible.

Yes, amazing isn't it? And it's disappointing that so many people on this board purposely try to misinform. For example can you imagine anyone stating that white people are more likely than black people to be shot by police in this country, knowing that only 13.6% of the people in this country are black and 75.8% are white? So, that's saying the white population, which is over 5.5 times *greater* than the black population, is more likely to be shot by police. Shocking. /s I've never in my life seen a report of an unarmed eskimo being shot by police at a traffic stop...they be must really well-behaved and never seen as a threat. I'm guessing that white people AND black people "are far more likely to be shot by police than" eskimos.
