That explains the sudden drop today.

That explains the sudden drop today. It's funny how it can feel like such a drop, but then you look at the price and it is still at $195. Not a terrible place to be in, even if I'd rather see AAPL setting new ATHs going into the holidays.

Don't underestimate the bipartisan hate that Big Tech has engendered due to their lack of privacy and free speech. I've said this before, but Republicans used to be firmly anti-antitrust (e.g., Microsoft's Internet Explorer antitrust case was dropped as soon as Bush won in 2000). But Big Tech has gone out of its way to piss off everyone it can, and now has few friends in DC. If someone is saying something bad about Apple, surely they must be bad, because Apple is always good!
Fortunately, a small group of legislators see the big shakedown picture:

Am guessing Washington putting some Legislative Muscle behind shoring up our own “Inner-Tubes” is a lost cause, God forbid the FSB and Chinese Intel can’t access our Networks whenever they choose. First step to solving a problem would at least be admitting there is one….
Don’t mind me am Grouchy, somehow my prime e-mail got sold or hacked and am being inundated with Spam. Am thankful for Mail Rules.

The "magnificent seven" have an interesting move today, with AMZN, NVDA, GOOG and META all up around 3% currently, significantly more than the .84% for the Nasdaq currently. Maybe some big players are making a big general investment in AI? AAPL is currently down .64%, likely over Watch worries. MSFT is up .56%, somehow kept out of those 4 flying off the shelves today. And TSLA, seemingly often in it's own pattern, is down .28%. (Yep, looks like even the Fool has an article about another article pushing AI this weekend. Guess I didn't keep up with the latest. Instead I spent about 6 hours each day up on the roof, trying to seal things up better and add better underlayment (Corning equivalent to Graces Ice and Snow) so that if we get ice dams the water doesn't go inside. I was thinking that the problem was general and some good underlayment would do the trick, though often finding the stuff I added a couple years ago looked solid. Basically dormer joints are bad (there were some gaps there, probably the main issue), and roofing tends to do well with water going downhill but issues come up when water starts going uphill instead. I did what I could, but the best option without redesigning the whole roof is probably to just add even more heat wires to make sure that melted snow makes it off the roof before refreezing. There's only an inch of rain so far today, so as long as things dry out at some point, I can jump back up on the metal roof and add a 4th snow melt wire. Dry roofs are nice when 2 stories up, even with a harness.)

It's interesting to hear how much other online marketplaces take, even if they are much different than Apple's App Store. I'm often amazed at how much Amazon gets from a variety of fees and costs, but this story has Etsy's: Etsy Is at Risk of Becoming the Next eBayI've been seeing a lot of Etsy ads lately. And we've bought a few unique things from there, like my wife getting a custom xmas wood hanging ornament for each of us. But while quite different than the app store, it's interesting to hear about the fees they charge.

Both Apple and AAPL are way past the time that a one day drop of a buck and a half in the stock deserves any notice at all, IMHO.
