More importantly, the promotion ends Friday, Sept 6th. I think this immediately becomes the leading candidate for the iPhone 5S launch date. Last year the promotion ended on 9/21, the same date the iPhone 5 launched.

The promotion is about 5 weeks shorter than it was last year. A bit surprising.

Last year the promotion ended on 9/21, the same date the iPhone 5 launched. Interesting data point there. It's TWO weeks earlier than last year (vs. my hoped-for one week) in order to put some pulp in FQ4 earnings. But before we get too excited, this data point did not work in 2011, when the back-to-school ended on Sept. 20 and the iPhone 4s launched October 4.

Oh, the irony. I thought the "ultrabook" was supposed to be Intel's answer to the MacBook Air.

It would be interesting to know how many of these are running Windows as the primary OS. Just curious.

But my new Air remains "pure." Incidentally, the battery on the new Air is everything it's cracked up to be. And it is expected to get even better with Mavericks.

It's possible that launch had to be slightly delayed until Siri was ready, so it's possible Sept 20th was the originally intended launch date for the 4S.

Not sure we can qualify 2011 with outlier status, since we only have two examples here (2011 and 2012). Nonetheless, a new iPhone launch in early September would be most welcome. I think Apple is EAGER to put the negative sentiment behind Apple for good with a YOY EPS beat for the September quarter: an extra two weeks for sales in September will assure that.

Up over 410. But there is a call wall there.....can we hold on and move on up...?
That Forbes article had the best "tone" of any Forbes article on Apple in eight months..

The calls do jump up from 405 to 410, but we've seen how the range can shift down quickly when the price plummets- I could see it shift up quickly too after these two days. Granted it is a very short week. 405: 4499 410: 8424 415: 7977 420: 9440 While the individual walls aren't that big compared to other weeks/months, I do think that 410-420 combo of 25k is def a big hurdle. Maybe it's a little bit of a payback for the many many weeks of crushed calls that has occurred thus far.

Wow, AAPL is like a rocket today. 417+ already, and we're only half an hour into trading. Is iWatch the catalyst?

Is iWatch the catalyst? to be fair we dropped 55 points in about 3 weeks (40 points in 1.5 weeks), so as sexy as this feels just keep that pain in the back of your head. Now we have to get through all those fun targets we broke through on the way down. I'm guessing the 430-435 range which has the 50 and 100 day approx would be a nice area to get back above.

The only thing I don't like about this rally is how fast it's going. We need a rally that can accelerate as it goes, not one that goes fast as first and then stalls after a few days or weeks. Feels like we've had several of the latter type since September and they always start fast.

Don't overthink it. Not saying this will hold. Price is truth IMHO.
Price action's strong today, and volume is higher than usual. For a "vacation in the Hamptons" week this is interesting.

"Price is truth" God, I hate this saying. What does it MEAN? It's like saying water is wet, or everything is up, etc. Ok, I feel better. Thank you.

If AAPL stalls at $420, you know why. Thanks to the weekly option gamblers, who are no friends of AAPL longs, btw.

Mercel, I've got too much to worry about in the market to try and explain the esoterics of technicals that I'm only just now beginning to understand, dammit! ;D

That and 419-ish is resistance. And AAPL was at 388 on Friday.
IMHO, 416+ would be a fine day for AAPL.

Hey Lovey, I ignored your advice about buying options and I bought one and unfortunately only one contract of OCT 350 call for $55.50 on Friday. Its doing nicely. I also bought some commons on Friday. Now I think I can start to recoup some of the loses from the last six months.
The plan is to sell before the report this month.
