Well..... looks like China, France, etc. PMI numbers all came in lower than anticipated...we're seeing red out there....except for our Granny Smith AAPL this morning...nice shade of green (after Friday's sell off). Wednesday is Dec. 18th - let's see what the day holds
CPI Tuesday, Housing Starts on Weds., FOMC on Thurs., and Friday is "quadruple-witching" in Opex and probably the last day of good liquidity...next week will be very light with the Christmas holiday smack in the middle of the week.
On Friday AAPL released a second version of iOS 7.1 beta to its registered developers. One thing worth noting is a setting in the "restrictions" menu that lets a user turn the "Car Display" on and off. Sign of more to come.

Jefferies analyst Peter Misek raised estimates and his price target on (Buy-rated) Apple from $600 to $650 following their quarterly smartphone, tablet and PC survey.

Tweet from KWP ComTech Japan: "Apple share of NTT DoCoMo Smartphone sales remains >60% for October & November" This is absolutely amazing to me. I still don't understand why guidance is so low for this quarter with the recent addition of DoCoMo.

Horace on Apple's products and pricing: 5by5.tv/criticalpath/105IMHO: The negotiation has not been completed. Apple has a PRICE for the iPhone. CM as a PRC owned entity, does not want to pay the PRICE. It is like "The Game of Thrones". It is like two naval powers posturing in the China Sea.

From Weekend thread: I was? Well, if I did, I don't now. At this point I'll be shocked if there's no news the day China Mobile officially launches its 4G LTE network. It wasn't your prediction of 15m sold on Dec 18? ;D No, just sheer speculation about volume of chatter, that's all. Pfft, no. ;D You must have me confused with Chuck Jones or whoever's actually made a guess. There's been more than enough chatter (and, well, actual evidence) to convince me that this China Mobile iPhone thing is for real. Just waiting on that conference keynote now (mid-morning on the 18th). Huge bummer if it doesn't happen, to say nothing of near-term bullish momentum for AAPL. My take (which I hope I was/will be consistent on) - _initial_ demand for iPhone could be so crazy, it might actually make the rest of iPhone 5S's (and to a probably lesser degree, the humble 5C) life cycle on China Mobile look positively disappointing by comparison. It might even make the iPhone 6 look "bad" on a YOY growth basis vs. first couple quarters of 5S availability. Whether the current iPhone user base is closer to 15M or 45M, there's no clearer sign of demand you can find anywhere on Planet Earth. So in that sense I *sigh* "agree" with that Reuters dude that the first quarter or two of China Mobile iPhone sales may be considerably more "sugar rush" than "normal" demand to baseline for future YOY growth. I mean, sure, that'll happen with many carriers taking on a popular, established smartphone for the first time, but no one's ever seen a carrier with so many subscribers, several million of whom willingly suffer EDGE after buying their iPhones unsubsidized, possibly pre-owned, and quite possibly on the buyer-unfriendly gray market.

China Mobile is advertising the iPhone on its websites and banners. Imagine if after laying all this expectation out for customers, teasing like crazy, they then say: " sorry, no iPhone despite all our teasers and hints" Huge loss of face. Won't happen.

That's most of us in the "it's happening" (/meme) camp. Confident, but not totally. Been many head fakes along the way, but this time...the football will be there. ;D

IMHO: Apple has a PRICE. Apple also has a quantity a carrier NEEDS to purchase over a contract timeframe. This quantity is based on the carrier's current size.
Is CM happy to have its customers buy from another source?
Are there iPhone customers on CM now?
OR
Is the CM iPhone model different from all other iPhones?

The way to save face is to delay and say nothing. No one that matters has committed to an actual date. And keep negotiating if that is what they are actually doing. I won't believe that it is done until Apple says it is done.

Perhaps the leaks are a negotiating tactic? Trying to force Apple's hand?

Perhaps the leaks are a negotiating tactic? Trying to force Apple's hand? ird I can't see the leaks, all of which are by CM or its agents, as being a way to force Apple's hand. Sure, it is possible they don't have the final final final third year iphone purchase commitment nailed down just yet, but CM has given its user base a belief that new "star phones" are coming and coming soon....in conjunction with the 4G rollout. They want it all tied up in a neat bow... Now, TC being the clever dog he is, may have one.....last......concession in his pocket that he will grant in the next 48 hours...Face for everybody! Respect for our new partiner CM! Who can truly say? We'll all know more less than 24 hours from now....or we won't....

Don't they usually announce that there will be an event/announcement at least a few days beforehand? So the press can attend...
I can't remember the last time Apple announced something this important with a simple press release.
Therefore, I'm still in the doubter camp that this is getting announced this month.

Does anyone know what time the CM 4G global partners conference is?
As a side note, who the hell is selling a day before the "possible" deal. Baffles me.
