People are probably loading up on calls so bringing the stock price down to get them cheaper makes sense.

Does anyone know what time the CM 4G global partners conference is? As a side note, who the hell is selling a day before the "possible" deal. Baffles me. People that believe it is already priced in and/or don't believe that a deal is near. I don't think any big money worth its salt puts much stock in the CM "evidence" that is currently out there. CM is likely irrelevant in these people's minds, and will be until we have something much more credible to assess.

lol - how about another article to turn my $1 lottery ticket into $500+ mm or whatever it is right now by picking all the right numbers in just 1 day? woot A group in Australia did that years ago by buying every ticket combination for a lottery that was worth millions. They were sweating bullets when they realized they missed a block of numbers but they ended up winning the big prize (& all the subsidiary prizes too). Then the law was changed so they couldn't do a repeat.

It's on several of CM's regional websites, and you can run a Google translate or whatever on the schedule. Next timeframe to watch for news is by mid-morning on the 18th (keynote launching the new 4G LTE service will be done by then).

Perhaps the leaks are a negotiating tactic? Trying to force Apple's hand? ird I can't see the leaks, all of which are by CM or its agents, as being a way to force Apple's hand. Sure, it is possible they don't have the final final final third year iphone purchase commitment nailed down just yet, but CM has given its user base a belief that new "star phones" are coming and coming soon....in conjunction with the 4G rollout. They want it all tied up in a neat bow... Now, TC being the clever dog he is, may have one.....last......concession in his pocket that he will grant in the next 48 hours...Face for everybody! Respect for our new partiner CM! Who can truly say? We'll all know more less than 24 hours from now....or we won't.... Good point by Red, Apple doesn't negotiate on price - carriers a free to sell the iPhone for whatever price & subsidy they like - what apple negotiates on is minimum unit order amounts.

Amused by this game of telephone that led to a proclamation that CM has 45M iPhone users. It started as a Sina Tech article as I recall and somewhere along the way it seems like the report morphed into fact. Considering the "confirmed" number was from a Reuters article that sourced Ben Thompson (who's apparently pretty popular on the Web, but not a telco analyst - was it an interview or just quoting his blog?), I'm skeptical that the "China Mobile, which says it already has 45 million iPhone users" part is actually sourced from China Mobile. . If CM actually did say that to Reuters, what's the benefit? IMHO it shows _weakness_ - customers wouldn't put up with an inferior carrier experience forever in the face of TD-LTE.

As a side note, who the hell is selling a day before the "possible" deal. Baffles me. If there is no deal announced, AAPL could drop 30 points. Remember when they had the China event the day after the 5s keynote, and Munster said he was 99% sure they were going to announce China Mobile? What happened in the days following that? Right now, we are in a similar high risk situation.

Joking aside, Artman and Podboy, it's interesting that a subject of derision in the sixties ("odd lotter" was synonymous with what are now called "muppets" or "dumb money" and "Adam Smith" called his composite "dumb money" character "Odd-Lot Robert" to illustrate muppet thinking in dialog) is now the modus operandi of the bogeymen of the market.

Sold my Jan 2014 Calls for a nice profit, not confident about Dec. 18 announcement.

I'm not concerned - the NTT deal, which after China Mobile was the biggest uncaught fish for Apple, only warranted a press release from Apple. Apple hasn't done a onstage carrier announcement since the Verizon launch almost 3 years ago.

There's a huge quadruple option put wall at $550 that will likely give us a floor this week, regardless of any china mobile announcement/non-announcement tomorrow (Wednesday China time/late Tuesday US time).

BEYONCÉ Shatters iTunes Store Records With 828,773 Albums Sold in Just Three Days That is a lot of vinyl! What's vinyl? Just kidding , I'm old enough to have digitized a bunch of vinyl myself.

Apple hasn't done a onstage carrier announcement since the Verizon launch almost 3 years ago. Same with India, also a BIG (but very, very tough and slow-growing) market. Apple can send other Cupertino folks, or their presumably very-competent Apple China counterpart execs over if needed. China Mobile's launching its TD-LTE network and its new consumer brand on Dec. 18 at its partner conference - it's not an iPhone showcase and I can see the not-ideal optics if Tim Cook gets "top billing" and other execs from other major, longer-term CM OEM partners don't get the same opportunity. I don't know what's happening tomorrow. I'm just happy I don't have to wait much longer to find out one way or another.

Maybe I need to give Jean-Louis a break. He is French after all, not a native English speaker. But writing "fellatious" instead of "fallacious" is a bit...embarrasing

But I think I'm right on Bharti Airtel and Aircel not getting any press/keynote mentions from Apple.
