Raymond James begins the day by slapping a $700 PT on AAPL....let the games begin. Undoubtedly we'll be seeing multiple PT upward adjustments. Stock looking up in PM.......Merry Christmas Eve...and don't forget, market closes early today.

Took the opportunity to roll out some January 550/570 BCS to March and October. Pruning the hedge here to take some gains to offset against what are still some big tax losses for 2013... Three weeks ago these spreads looked DOA. But they ended up green...

I think that Tim Worstall is one of the more cogent Apple commentators out there. His latest article gives a good description of how the rising economic tide in China will provide a new stream of aspirational buyers of Apple products over the next few years. "And it’s worth noting one important point about China itself. With a 10% growth rate (a little higher than what they’ve got now but not much) the economy doubles in size every 7 years. And with a static population (roughly China’s situation) incomes will double every 7 years too. So the number of China’s 1.3 billion people whose income grows each year to the point where they can afford an aspirational product like an iPhone is huge." Merry Christmas to all AFBers who celebrate the season, and thanks to all for providing a knowledgable and helpful, if sometimes fractious, community. 2014 should be a banner Apple/AAPL year.

I especially like this one from the article. Anybody that argues for cheaper this or that is telling the world that they never made it past their first semester of business school.

Me too - I'm in good company! Has anyone looked at TWTR today? They must have gotten a China Mobile deal too --- it's ridiculous --- I'm putting it in my AMZN category. Frigging nuts!

For anybody checking in after hours, Institutional ownership of AAPL ticked up today. The Institutions appear to be sticking their toe in the water. Look for Institutional ownership just prior to earnings. Should be up by about 5% from current 61.3%.
See you all on the flip side.

Years ago, I started using Google Finance to watch my stocks. I figured, how bad can it be? They do no evil, right? last year, about the time we hit 700, it seemed that a flood of FUD began to appear on the site, usually attributed to Insider Monkey and Valuewalk. The stories from these sites seldom had new content. a favorite ploy was to report on someone else's story so they could plagiarize without being accountable. An example might be where Asymco publishes a well thought out report showing that Apple will increase sales by 20%. Valuewalk then puts out a story titled "Will Apple fail to meet projections?" makes up some projections and then quotes from Asymco.
This is still going on, but I think most people are on to them now. I noticed that now they are using a new source called "Guardian Express" The name is obviously chosen to try to gain credibility from the Guardian, an English paper that has a great reputation. It takes a little digging to find that the Guardian Express is a Las Vegas "paper" that only exists online. So how, one might ask, does a web blog with no resources, no real content and zero credibility end up being featured on Google's Finance page to the extent that 3 of the top five articles come from this questionable source?
If this doesn't jar your preserves, nothing will. Do no evil my ass

Me too - I'm in good company! Has anyone looked at TWTR today? They must have gotten a China Mobile deal too --- it's ridiculous --- I'm putting it in my AMZN category. Frigging nuts! I hope so! Here's a FUD piece that's worth reading for the comments -- everyone is pushing back on the writer for pissing on the CM fireworks. At least people are now more likely to recognize FUD for what it is, instead of blindly accepting the printed word, especially when it appears on the internet. A story disseminated through 20 people by memory has a better chance for accuracy these days. appleinsider.com/articles/13/12/24/smartphone-growth-slowing-in-china-as-apple-expands-iphone-presence
