Overseas markets followed the US...all soft. AAPL flat to slightly up in PM. Story out (sources unconfirmed) that Foxconn shipped 1.5 million of iPhone 5s to China Mobile for the first day of launch which I believe is the 17th (Friday). Seems somewhat in line, if true. Unclear if that was the demand or just all they could ship even if demand was greater....I'm sure we will get potentially good news and as well as FUD on this all week. Here is the appleinsider.com article if you would like to take a look: appleinsider.com/articles/14/01/14/foxconn-reportedly-ships-nearly-15m-iphone-5s-units-for-china-mobile-launch

Following yesterday's Nest acquisition discussion, there are some fantastic startups in the home automation area. One that appeals to me is Ube. myube.co/Also Apple is busy licensing MFi to appliance makers, Haier is an example. "The successful application of Apple's MFi official certification logo in the appliance industry will upgrade the user experience of Haier's smart appliances rapidly. An online survey showed that current users need to be professionals or people who know the technology to connect their smart appliances to the web, due to the complex setup and certification process, which tends to make the smart functions of smart appliances nothing but decorations. However, Apple's MFi can solve this problem and bring users a new smart experience."

I mean sure, it probably won't vary too much between China Unicom/Telecom (though there is the TD-LTE factor), but that might play a role in moderating demand for now. Of course some corners of WS plus eternal pessimists probably don't think the iPhone 5C/5S will be subsidized much at all. Heh. #overpricedmeme

Still hoping the price holds up; on so many recent days it has faded.

So, the DC Circuit strikes down Net Neutrality, a possible big blow to Google, and GOOG is up $20.

So, the DC Circuit strikes down Net Neutrality, a possible big blow to Google, and GOOG is up $20. What I worry about is that Wheeler will change the classification of the Internet from an information service to a telecommunications service. This will give the FCC far more power to regulate everything on the Internet. Along those lines there is an article today about the US dropping out of the top 10 free economies in the world. Not being political because both sides of the isle have blood on their hands in these matters.

Another good close on volume - excellent.
Just finished watching Elon musk interview on CNBC - although I'm satisfied not holding TSLA stock at its current levels (sold out at $125), the guy must be one of the best CEOs I have ever seen. He can talk the talk AND walk the walk.

burgess, until AAPL sees sustained 550+, a move to 570+, which probably will coincide with some catalytic event from who knows where...I'm thinking some strange kind of range-y, consolidation purgatory.

AAPL is up $10 bucks and no one is posting? Well, it seemed like I jinxed it yesterday by posting about crickets in the forum around HOD time, so I decided not to make that mistake again. You're welcome!

Here's my WAG, worth approximately $0.02... We go above 550 tomorrow and close above it. Then Thursday and Friday we go back below it, closing at exactly 550.00 on Friday. Then, next week we're off to the races.

3 months ago he was predicting $16.85 for this quarter...I wonder why the big change? Not that I think we'll be close to $16.85, I'd be more than happy with $14.92. Probably expecting China Mobile last quarter?

Probably expecting China Mobile last quarter? The increased deferred revenue skimmed as much as $1 off of EPS this quarter ($900 million)

Deagol has been consistently high for the last 6 quarters. So, take that with a grain of salt.
My guess is he is still high.
