JPM just put out a note (Rod Hall):
iOS 7 Adoption Nears 90% for iPhone, 85% for iPad: According to the latest statistics from Chitika Insights, 89.7% of iPhone Web traffic in North America is being generated by handsets running some version of iOS 7. For iPads, the number is a bit lower at 84.8% of the whole, but the tablet-owning audience exhibited more growth over the past three months. Relative to the firm's last study in February, 83.3% percent of iPhone owners were running iOS 7, meaning that number rose 5.4pp over the past quarter ended in May. Apple iPad users moved from 78.5% to 84.8% during the same period, representing a 6.3pp increase. (Apple Insider) Our View: We just remind readers that this high level of latest-gen OS adoption is one of the secrets to Apple’s success in the app department as developers have a ubiquitous OS environment to write their code against.
Apple Appoints New CFO Luca Maestri as Peter Oppenheimer Transitions Out: In a filing with the US SEC, Apple announced it officially appointed Luca Maestri as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on May 29. Maestri succeeds longtime CFO Peter Oppenheimer.

I enjoy BEN's posts. He sees the the big picture: My grandfather could probably have told you how many electric motors he owned. There was one in the car, one in the fridge, one in his drill and so on. My father, when I was a child, might have struggled to list all the motors he owned (how many, exactly, are in a car?) but could have told you how many devices were in the house that had a chip in. Today, I have no idea how many devices I own with a chip, but I could tell you how many have a network connection. And I doubt my children will know that, in their turn. ben-evans.com/benedictevans/2014/5/26/the-internet-of-things

I watched WWDC 2013 last night and really wonder how WWDC 2014 will fill its two hour time slot. My best WAG (and realistic hope) is that a new Apple TV and SDK will be the surprise this year. For other Apple hardware, I'd love to see new Thunderbolt Displays (Retina, preferably). iOS8 (Healthbook, etc.), new flat-designed OSX, home automation, iBeacon, and iCloud improvements will fill out the rest. Still, it seems that without the major facelift of iOS, Mavericks and iWorks that consumed much of last year's event, Apple has lots of time to fill out today's WWDC keynote.
The question for how AAPL behaves depends on WWDC as much as it does on how many are positioned to buy the inevitable dip on the news. If there are more people looking to buy than usual, anticipating the post-WWDC script, maybe we don't see the oh-so-predictable sell-off. I have some cash to deploy if we get a BTD moment (likely).

RBC raises PT this morning: from $645 to $675 Usually the rash of PT upgrades is followed by a reversal of course. The AAPL train may be too fast to stop though.

I have gone on several sites this morning and EVERYONE from technicians to fundamentalists to mainstream bloggers are all saying this stock will dip today ... then these same people are saying BTFD ... I just don't know - this stock has a way of making an idiot out of you if you get too cute to trade it actively. Who knows - the fact that everyone (seriously) is saying it will dip - could be the reason it does not.

The stock split is new this year as well, and let's hope John Gruber's "I've got a good feeling about this one..." has root with his Apple contacts. We KNOW Apple was planning for WWDC well before AAPL's revival in May, so let's see Tim & Co. come out with their boxing gloves on...and land some big uppercuts.

Looks like buy the rumor sell the news may have become sell the rumor buy the news. It is certainly making me think long and hard about what to do with a position I was planing to liquidate later this morning...

I'm thinking that it is possible that Apple announces "Time Machine in the Cloud" today or soon. What do y'all think about that?

Well, I was unaware of the Manuf. news and when I saw AAPL down $6 I assumed it was WWDC "sell the rumor; sell the news" kind of thing. My bad. Anyway, WHAT OTHER COMPANY ON PLANET EARTH puts on these events that are so eagerly anticipated and captures this much attention and interest? There isn't one. Now, let's see AAPL find a 18 P/E again.

I like this opening video, highlighting the critical difference that Grade A apps make in choosing between the iOS and Android platforms, both as a developer and consumer. There's no contest.

That was a short intro by Tim, as compared to last year. Hair Force One is onstage to talk OSX. This hints that the pace will be fast, making room for CONTENT.
