Hate those 1/7 decimal strike prices.
Is that why the much-more-rational 93, 93.5, etc. aren't out yet?

Michael "Short AAPL" Blair of Seeking Alpha infamy admits he was wrong about AAPL, then proceeds to double-down with rationalizing why he's still short. He gives weirdos a bad name.
Good thing he has a day job writing articles for Seeking Alpha. I imagine he collects $100 - $150 per comedy sketch.
(See JD for the link to the article...)

Seeking Alpha Page 1 of 2 is a joke. The StockTwits of writing in most cases. 'Course if I had a gig there I might say it wasn't so bad. So who knows if I'd be a sellout.

A sell out for $100? You're pricing yourself out of the market, Mav. lol (I kid, we're waiting on Apple 3.0 from you).
I wrote a skeptical SA comment on there once and it got moderated. Amazing that SA curates the comment section and not the articles themselves. Getting it back-asswards sounds about right...

Unpuking. Going to be an interesting day to say the least. If I sometimes seem overly negative it's because I'm superstitious and I sometimes think the stock acts inversely to my sentiment Btw I cannot wrap my brain around my split adjusted options. My brain is broken. After my debacle in options the last year, my nickname happens to be "Contra Indicator".

Toni Sacconaghi saying a split reinforces positive momentum and stocks continue to do better. He would be a buyer here. Not necessarily due to split but because of exciting products coming in second half...blah, blah, blah. Stock will get to $700 or more.

Selling On StrengthAPPL is on the Selling on Strength list. Interesting that in the past when I checked, all block trades were on the downtick in the Selling on Strength list. Now the block trades show 5.24 on the uptick and 8.44 on the downtick. Curious, maybe the large funds are not sure the direction of AAPL and hedging in both directions.

Waiting for Ballmer to leave his car and come inside for a cuppa coffee at Starbucks. Lots of Macs waving the Apple logo while he waits to be served. I want to sell him my car for 10 million -- he likes to overpay for things. Haha

There are numerous managers that may have rebalancing of sorts to do...just remember that any block you see, divide it by 7 and then determine if it is big or not.

I seem to remember that the criteria for being defined as an institutional investor was that you own 1000 shares or more. Does anyone know what the split does to this criteria? Do you now have to have 7000 shares? Will this distort the institutional percentage?
Nevermind....It appears that the institutional percentages ( at least the ones we can see on Google Finance or NASDAQ) are only calculated on a quarterly basis when the funds file their reports.

The split is working hard to reach & break the 94 barrier.

June 9, 2014, 1:42 p.m. EDT Apple’s stock, at whatever price, is a real ‘buy’Insight: Behind the stock-price number, the company’s value is attractive articles.marketwatch.com/story/apples-stock-at-whatever-price-is-a-real-buy-2014-06-09 Today is Split Day for Apple, but the shares aren’t jumping even though they’re more affordable. But investor sentiment is good , according to a MarketWach poll, with half of responding readers rating the stock a “buy.” Apple AAPL +1.67% opened at $92 today after closing at $646 on Friday, following the 7-for-1 split. The major advantages of the split include more institutional purchasers for the stock, since there will be no arbitrary restriction from buying shares priced over $100. Retail investors also may warm to the stock. After all, buying a round lot of 100 Apple shares now costs less than $10,000.

70M volume day? About "average" - though with that many shares, liquidity is no issue.

Not off to the "flying" start that many out there had expected (wished for) but still quite good.
AAPL is up by $1.60 and my account value is up by over $32,000. Will unload some near-term calls at 94.

AAPL's up 140 bucks (er, 20) since earnings. So I'm not sure that super-high expectations for just today are the norm. But I'm happy everyone's benefiting nicely from this multi-week rally. If even I can see some alpha (well, a little), you guys must be doing absolutely awesome.

My LEAPS are broken. : ( They don't change in value even though they AAPL is up around $9 pre split I'm hoping this is because some prices don't reflect the true value when there is no activity for an option, but the value will be "assigned" as of the end of the day. I think the values get calculated at close and may show more than was reflected during trading hours. Please chime in if someone knows more about this!

I know they don't change near real-time but I did notice that they changed faster pre-split. I hope they are just not reflective of the actual value.

Being up 1.6% is certainly way better than I'd thought.

Well, Bat Guano is being guanoish again. Just about every word he says is total batshit crazy. This guy gets paid, presumably a lot, for this guano. Attached as PDF, to avoid linking to link troll Reuters. Reuters Insider - Apple Stock Split: Sell the News Scenario - JMP's GaunaAttachments:batguano2.pdf (123.35 KB)

Based on recent trajectory, 1.6% is about in line so one could argue the split had no effect today.

So CNBC brings in Colin Gilles to comment on AAPL - seriously?! Melissa Lee begins by saying, "You missed the 24% run, Colin." He said there is nothing different fundamentally with the stock - he would definitely not chase. Melissa Lee tells him that they have lots going: the buyback, new products, momentum. His response, "Yeah but the June qtr will still be weak. Maps wasn't spoken about in WWDC. Why did they buy Beat? They should have bought Spotify." Melissa asks, "So why not put a "sell" on it?" Doesn't really respond clearly other than that there is still tons of cash flow...... He goes on to point to "growth issues, channel inventory issues, blah, blah, blah...." What a flaming ass! He has NEVER gotten it right. It's infuriating that he stays employed - borderline repulsive.
