I am sitting in a doctors office waiting room. I see 3 senior citizens on their iPhones. The future is very bright.

Red
My point is that older folks on iPhones signals the strength and ease of use that iOS offers. Technology especially newer, is adopted by seniors last. Apple makes their devices easy to learn from the young to the old.
Long time ago it was a miracle to see an Apple product in the wild. Now they are everywhere and being used in public by all ages.
Wait until we get to the $100 iPhone and iPad in 5 years.

So AMZN hires someone from MSFT (a 20 year veteran who worked on the Windows phone - yeah the one that isn't selling) to help them do what? The speculation is to make a phone for AMZN. There is still more irony - the guy's name is Charlie KINDEL. ;D

If we ever get to sub $350...won't the percentage of that number that is pure cash be completely INSANE?! Something's gotta give here...we are getting to crazy numbers for such a profitable company. That being said, I discount nothing because I was shaking my head when we crashed thru $600, then again thru $500, and momentarily thru $400....so I am of the mind that just about anything can happen...ludicrous or otherwise. If we get to sub-350 either before or after earnings, I believe they'll initiate taking this thing private. Maybe that's TC's true North Star.

And if it did, you can expect lawsuits until the death of the company. You can't purposely tank the value of the company in order to take it private.

I would suggest a portfolio of 20-30 dividend and dividend growth stocks. I started diversifying out of AAPL LEAPS during the Spring, 2012. I have 26 positions now (AAPL is one of them), and life is good. Non-AAPL stocks range from being up 39% (OHI) to down 20+% - AAPL. Only three are red, and the other not near as much as AAPL The portfolio's current yield is 4%, that is getting reinvested. Excellent advice, although I personally prefer to have a more focused portfolio, with a maximum of about 15 stocks. I like to have deep knowledge of each business, something I could never manage if I owned 30 stocks. I used to run a much more concentrated portfolio. Diversification was about expiration dates and strike prices The number of positions is a risk management tactic. I will end up with 40-50 roughly equal weight positions. A single company blow-up, like BP in the Gulf, will not have undue influence on the portfolio total. Most of the work is done before the purchase is made, after that I go into buy and monitor mode. I spend less time on my holdings now than I did when it was all AAPL options. I think if you do the right kind of work before the purchase it minimizes the amount of work needed later.

Thanks Sponge. Awesome stuff. Apple needs to hire this guy and go all in on medical tech. Don't bet against Dr. Topol.

The North Star thing was tongue-in-cheek and a not-so-subtle stab at TC. I don't think TC and Co. are purposely tanking the stock but if they were, I don't think you could ever prove that. Massive revenue and innovative products with mass appeal would be the first bit of evidence they introduce. No, Wall Street is tanking this thing and perhaps TC is complicit by hoarding the cash. That's as far as I'm willing to take the tin foil hat thing. By hoarding the cash, you get the PPS tank and then the ability to purchase it on the cheap. At sub $350 they would be at 50% of the market cap in cash in a matter of months. Redler is a prophet. He urged TC to split the stock or WS would do it for him.

Some anti-FUD:
"We believe that Apple (AAPL) will launch the iPhone 5S at China Mobile (CHL) this July, as it launches the next iteration of the iPhone globally," writes Wedge Partners' Brian Blair, without elaborating on his sources. The remarks comes a little less than 3 months after Apple and China Mobile signed a confidentiality agreement. Blair sees a 5S model supporting China Mobile's TD-SCDMA 3G network likely entering production in May.

Too many negative posts. Sentiment can change more quickly than many expect. And to those predicting a 3 handle, why not $200 or $100? AAPL is RIDICULOUS with a 4 handle. There are simply too many catalysts in the next 3-4 months to think we stay at these levels IMO> Look at this from M.G. Siegler today -- payment processing on the 5s and iOS7 could be very big

As always, be aware of confirmation bias when others are posting their share price predictions, both from the bear and bull side. If we're bulls, we see mostly the news that supports our bullish scenario. If we're bears, we focus on the news that supports our bearish scenario. Those who play both sides may not have a clearer idea regarding where the share price is headed, but they may also be less likely to make pronouncements.
Lovemyipad's IF/THEN approach remains my north star, though I'm inept at following it. I'm an apple bull at heart, a true believer, but my goal as an investor is to become more agnostic in the future.

Good for trading.
For investing you can apply trader-type rules, but conviction doesn't necessarily mean "true belief" or "falling in love with a stock/company". If you lose conviction, it's nothing personal.

Biometrics would be interesting. Keeping the Home button around for a reason?
But like the magic "textured" iPad display, I'll believe it when I see it.

Gruber says he has heard that iOS 7 is behind schedule & OS X developers have been pulled in to pick up the pace.
That little nugget of news might be quite bad for tomorrow.
However he also says the Jony Ive interface overhaul is making a lot of people happy, which is a positive step forward.

If you lose conviction, it's nothing personal. With regard to Apple, the line between conviction and true belief is a blurry one for me. Other stocks and companies, not at all. The problem with blind spots is that I usually get run over by something before I'm made aware of it.

Good point on the home button - imagine how ludicrously big the Android 5" screen phones would have to become if they also wanted to include a fingerprint scanner on the front face as well to stay relevant.

branch.com/b/apple-to-begin-iphone-production-this-quarterAn event featuring the new iPad 5 in April/May would be most interesting. Leave the retina iPad mini until September/October. Going 6 months without a product introduction is giving me a willy wonka vibe out of apple at present, something is obviously cooking...

It's the Year of Transition. Don't look too much into it, IMHO, until you actually get a media invite out of Apple.
iOS 7 being behind schedule is only an issue if it was planned for late August or September. If so, that's bad for iPhone 5S without a culture shift from Apple. And if iOS 7 really IS a September or later deal, I think Tim Cook will force the culture shift out of necessity.

Btw, that's kind of a who's who of commentators, some with pretty damn good sources. +1 Right you are. I'm excited about this rumor, as far as rumors levitate my mood. And pulling engineers from OSX to lend a hand to iOS7 is NOT a problem. If anything, Apple is prioritizing a timely launch for iOS. Gruber not too long ago went out of his way to dampen expectations for iOS7. Now he's raising them -- which I LIKE.

However he also says the Jony Ive interface overhaul is making a lot of people happy, which is a positive step forward. Don't worry about it. If Apple trades soft, it won't be THAT. And remember, Apple has pulled engineers over from OSX before. If rumors about the 5s for June/July are true, this all makes sense.
