Who wants to take over this board if I leave? Drop me a PM. It is too late. It is imploding as we speak.

Sponge..I say this with the most kindness...you are vey naive...please continue with your happy outlook on life...that is most important So you think I am naive by being bullish about Apples future and trusting management? I have been bullish about the future since 1997. I only started to invest in 2005. But today the company has never been stronger. And in 5 years I will say the same thing.

Who wants to take over this board if I leave? Drop me a PM. You are not allowed to leave. I forbid this. We neeed you! Give us another chance please. I know we can be a PITA. How about a trial; just for a year. In lieu of that I vote for Greg based on tolerance and patience :-). Seriously I hope you reconsider: from the guy that knows nothing of what keeping this board running entails.

Who wants to take over this board if I leave? Drop me a PM. If this doesn't give the miscreants pause, nothing will. Let's put things back in order. There has been too much value here to just throw away. We're all hurting to various degrees, and that alone should bind us.

I suppose I am part of the problem recently so I will shut up for a while until we are all a bit more level-headed. Sorry.

Many of you really need to grow up, this pissing contest is getting old. Is it that hard to express your opinions without direct name calling and /sarcasm?
Christ, these last 5 months have been hard on everyone, don't add fuel to the fire and have some compassion for another individual that is experiencing the same thing you are.

Please don't abandon ship, iPad. I know it must seem particularly thankless in these trying and oh so annoying times. No one could do what you do. You are much appreciated!

Well, I guess you won't agree, but IMO bears who make well-reasoned arguments have always been and remain welcomed here, generally speaking. Some (many?) here will find this strange, BUT, I have no problem with Bears. What I do have a problem with are Bears (or for that matter Bulls) that offer rumors and unsupported FEELINGS, as fact, that don't read beyond chapter titles, etc. Yes, I am direct, some will say harsh in my criticism. The deal is that I am tired of "discussing" the same issues, over and over again, only to have them be brought up again and again by people that don't have the knowledge, or experience, to manage a single Apple project, let alone the entire Company. I know I don't, but I don't pretend that I do, or that what I think is what management of the world's most successful technology should do. What I have always thought investment blogs were about was gaining knowledge about investing, not solving perceived problems of the Company. Those discussions do not elevate investment knowledge, because no matter what WE think Apple should do, the people that DO run Apple will ignore us, just like they have ignored Einhorn and the pundits in the media. The people actually running the Company are better informed than we will ever be. We can only guess at what they KNOW. I also have a problem with statements based on incomplete knowledge, then when presented with more facts, they are ignored. There are (or were) many intelligent posters on this and other forums that simply stop. After nearly 20 years of following Apple I have come to know many, and the number that stopped did so because of the noise level.

Market tops tend to have whipsaws like yesterday and today -- the first drop is usually: 1) bought by dip-buyers who have been conditioned and rewarded for dip-buying for the entire duration of the last upwave; 2) shorted by those who missed the drop yesterday and do not want to miss the next one + uncommitted sellers, both of which then stop out and fuel a low-volume melt-up. Tomorrow will hopefully give us a clue as to whether today was retrace or reversal. We'll see if strength is being bought or sold. As for AAPL... Until that downtrend line breaks (see chart), I'm assuming any upside is an oversold, counter-trend bounce or bull trap. Do I think we'll go sub-400? No idea. But I'm hedged for the possibility, because until proven otherwise (with a decisive break above that line), the prevailing trend is DOWN. I've been waiting for my hedges to blow up in flames for months now. One day, it will happen, and I will be thrilled. Until then, my cheap throwaway disaster insurance continues to outperform my core AAPL holdings. AAPL DAILY CHART: trendlines Usually when a trendline is broken, there's a retest. See that light blue uptrend line we just lost? Bulls need to get above that minimally, and ideally, above the green downtrend line. Great post Lovey. Recently I've been talking positions in Put Spreads and Call Spreads at THE SAME TIME. Both positions are deep in the money. I am not making the same ROI as I have in the past, but neither am I losing as I have in the past.

What if the answer to the cash question is simply that they are waiting for a favourable tax repatriation environment? What kind of reaction would that get from the market? From the press? From the government? They already accounted for the potential tax of repatriation in their past earnings. But getting a reduced tax rate increases earnings and allows Apple to keep more of it, for the benefit of shareholders or cap ex, or whatever.

Tell us, almighty Carnac, what sound math is your sub-400 prediction based on, other than some Spongian wild-assed guess/feeling? I can answer that question, if you really want an answer. I do.

Not only did she build the site FOR FREE, she maintains, manages, and moderates it FOR FREE! If that wasn't enough, she's also the most valuable poster and content provider. Lets show her the respect she deserves. If iPad leaves because certain members of this community can't behave, nor conduct themselves appropriately, I swear to god that I will become the worst nightmare of the perpetrators. Please save the rest of us and take your arguments private.

What if the answer to the cash question is simply that they are waiting for a favourable tax repatriation environment? What kind of reaction would that get from the market? From the press? From the government? Also respectfully if the answer from a CEO, CFO was based on dependency on a favorable tax situation when there is no indication from the Gov't that its coming I'd say what's plan B and what are the data points you are prepared to execute it it. For instance if we are sitting on 200B in the bank still waiting for a tax break that's just miss management of cash on an unprecedented level. Everyone's in the same boat. There's no indication THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF. For all anyone KNOWS, Apple and Obama are deep into negotiations right now. Stating as fact that's "there is no indication from the Gov't that its coming" is baseless noise, because neither party is going to tell you, or me, anything about it, until its a done deal. With what you KNOW, there is no way you can make a judgement that that cash is being mismanaged. Personally, I would trust Apple management with all that cash, before I would even consider your uninformed opinions.

Still long AAPL, but only hold 5% of prior position.
Wow... This board is collapsing. Too bad.
I guess it's the evil overlords, manipulation, scare crows, Santa Claus, Jack Daniels South Carolina, etc.
Boo!
I was wrong.
See ya at Braeburn!
