Burgess, that's iPad mini after all. ;D It's not ALL old technology, which is also important. iPad mini + LTE for instance. Good point.

I ain't clicking that particular link. Sharp is having staying in business issues apparently. Apple probably isn't in the business of bailing out bad businesses, but they should at least have LG as a display supplier partner. I should look at their most recent supplier responsibility report, they do list every one of their supplier partners there. LCD displays are a different thing than chips. Chips/SoCs are arguably just a little more important than displays. And if Foxconn is going into TVs, maybe they'll start making smaller form factor panels too. I also agree with this, I don't mind Samsung supplying screens as its not giving them much in the way of insight into future apple product plans, unlike the advantages they get when apple orders future A-series chips years in advance. Plus screens are rather low margin, so not much profits flowing onto Samsung.

South Korea shutting down nuclear power plants after discovering "fake" parts. Warns of "Unprecedented problem" in country's ability to supply adequate electricity to meet demand.
Shocking.

Business as usual for a South Korean Corporate I guess. I feel for the average South Korean citizen.

Yeah, here's my early review of Walt and Kara: Epic fail that you guys are so backward that you can't live stream this. You should be ashamed as critics that you can't even meet the minimum expectations here. A complete joke.

Walt, as a write for the WSJ, has the gall to jab Tim over its stock price. Walt should ask to borrow a mirror from Carl Levin...

We'll get the interview in news bites and the full interview in a few hours anyway.

Well, it's not like Walt is gonna get Tim to well up in tears or punch Walt out or anything. Might as well get the stupid question out of the way.
And it's as I "predicted": Tim will give a spirited defense of the company. ;D

"Streaming costs money"?
"You gotta pay to see it live"?
Whatever. At day's end, I'm not paying anything extra. Not all Apple events are live (though the traffic is way higher for those), so I'll live.

Tim looks to be in fine form so far. Walt, you moron, iPad is a derivative of iPhone. If you go that route, Apple hasn't had a hit since 2007.
Also, stop playing word games. Apple makes $150B in sales. It doesn't NEED "hits". And yet it still does what it's always done. You should "thank them".
Wow, about 6.5M Apple TVs sold last year.

Walt is attempting to coax (more like, goad) Tim into revealing what's new coming from Apple. Tim seems to be taking part of the bait with Apple TV sales. Interesting.

The Verge has the best coverage.
I'd love to see Tim diverge from the norm and give us a hint about some hardware at WWDC. I'm expecting new MacBooks at the least.

Mmmm...Tim says Apple has a grand vision re: Apple TV, in so many words. Timeframe? You'll learn about it when we're good and ready.
How about Glass, Tm? Hard to (cough, cough) "see" having broad appeal.

I wear a Fuelband too Tim, but I haven't forgotten Dick Tracy. It's more than ripe, the banana is turning brown.

Walt and Kara...nothing short of truth serum is going to get Tim to confirm or deny iWatch and iTV. But yeah, Tim is going on record saying that Glass is for glass holes.

Good point - "I wear glasses because I have to. I don't know a lot of people who wear them because they don't have to."

Nah, Apple TV unit sales are one of those non-secret secrets that Tim likes to use as an inside secret-sounding thing. If an analyst asks, Tim will generally give quarterly unit sales for Apple TV during an earnings CC.

Tim gets it, IMHO:
"Tim: To convince people they have to wear something, it has to be incredible. If we asked a room of 20-year olds to stand up if they're wearing a watch, I don't think anyone would stand up."

Walt, you moron (again). Apple was dwarfed in handset sales and smartphone sales from DAY ONE.
I hope the remainder of the interview gets more interesting.

Ah, the market share of Android v. iOS. Walt didn't get Falkirk's memo apparently. Making the best iPhone is Apple's North Star (my word).

Granted I'm 25, but I also have a lot of friends who are 3-5 years younger than me. Watches are insanely popular in this demographic.

Well, I wear a watch too.
So if nothing else, a bigger iWatch demographic than Tim might be expecting. Or maybe it's classic Steve/Apple misdirective dismissal of a market riiiiight before...

Kara is trolling Tim with "I use iOS more than my Android phones but don't love it as much." Hey Kara, you might clear your schedule June 10, you dumb bunny.

"Mannn, iOS hasn't changed much in a year. I need something new."
You should be so lucky that your OS gets refreshed once a year. Cough Android cough.
