Apple is on 30 more carriers this year compared to last year. Lack of pre orders for the 5S I think is due to lack of supply to meet China and the extra carriers in the first 6 weeks. I will be in line for the first time in two years at my local ATT store. Hope they have a gold one left for the Sponge.

Gregg Thurman "The hubris exhibited by low cost advocates, that they, in their isolated, anecdotal, uninformed worlds, know better than the collective knowledge, experience of China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile and Apple management, is extraordinary, and displays more racist attitudes about the "poor" Chinese, than it does rational thought."
I don't think it is "racism" as much as it is the "soft bigotry of low expectations" that is so common in our society today. If the phone is good enough and the Chinese want it bad enough they will find a way to get it despite these "low expectations" voiced by many on here.
Now for my semi-annual downturn rant at the disciples of doom that morph into Apple CEOs at every hiccup in the stock price.
Again I prefer the eternal optimist to the perpetual whine from those who invest in the stock market and become stock gurus when their stocks go up and revert to a poor little abused retail investor when their stocks go down. Taken advantage of again by the evil CEO who didn't follow the script laid out for them by the stock guru and caused him/her to lose some money. If you don't like the company, don't like the CEO, don't like the volitility, and can't afford to lose the money when it does what it does---sell and quit pretending that Apple the company, Tim the CEO or anyone else that works for them care about about how you think the company should or should not be run. "It is what it is" and you need to suck it up and play defense or punt.
It's like Groundhog Day (the movie) around here. Oh well---end of semi-annual rant.

That's it artman, I'm gonna set up an e-petition for Gordon Liddy to get out of retirement and shoot a commercial for the GOWLD iPhone 5S.

I like your "soft bigotry of low expectations". With your permission I'm going to use it in the future when addressing provincial thinking. I especially liked your message to instant "stock gurus". You said it better than I, and certainly without the disgust I feel towards the ever changing attitudes.

Just watched the iPhone announcement again.
Commentators, bloggers, and part time engineering/marketing/management "experts" should be required to view it at least 3 times before taking pen in hand.

I remember an old joke about how to get rid of a tapeworm. You need a dozen hardboiled eggs, 11 sugar cookies and a hammer. Each day, you shove an egg up your ass and wait 5 minutes, then shove a sugar cookie. On the twelfth day, you shove the egg and wait. After five minutes the tapeworm will stick his head out and demand "Where's my sugar cookie!" then you hit him with the hammer. Every time I read a post complaining about how the stock didn't go up like it should, i think "Where's my sugar cookie?"
