Any sort of a move in AAPL based on this China Mobile disappointment would certainly move the nasdaq 100 futures here: www.cmegroup.com/popup/mdq2.html?code=NQH4&title=March_2014_E_mini_NASDAQ_100&type=p#link=5minBut it's actually higher right now at 9:30 ET than it was an hour ago, and higher than it was 3 hours ago as well. So either Wall Street doesn't care about this supposed negative CM news, or they're just slow to react and there's money to be made by shorting the NASDAQ 100 e-minis right this second. Personally, I think it's a non-event. You may very well be right, as AAPL should have traded stronger than it did since late last week, hinting that this unknown is not a variable now, at least in the very short term.

Anyone have experience with stocktwits, as the chatter there isn't real positive with recents posts stocktwits.com/symbol/AAPL is everybody in the high school. Some are smart. Some are idiots. They just go to the same school as us. We are in the debate club and science club and some are in the GLEE club. We are a subset of them.

No offense but I don't think anyone here knows what's really going on. Waiting for a credible news outlet to report what's going on

Hopefully all of the other very positive reports regarding sales this quarter will keep the stock from selling off tomorrow .... even if it does I'm confident it will recover quickly.

Not sure what's so funny...is anyone here really dumb enough to believe there's no one smart that's worked for Microsoft? I'm sure there are many, many brilliant people there and Microsoft is one of the biggest Tech companies around. Steven Ballmer being one of them. Ballmer got a perfect math score on the SAT, and graduated with high honors from Hahvahd. Lots of smart people at Nokia and Blackberry too. But as OMG Smartest President Evah has demonstrated, intelligence and actually getting one's head out of one's ass and being competent in a modern tech economy are not always correlative. Optically, I think a company whose culture is stuck in a 1990's business model might not have been the best choice. When you think, "wow, these guys represent the young, entrepreneurial, get-er-done, modern mobile tech mastery SV crowd," is MSFT really the company that comes to mind (yes I know they are in Redmond)? These guys just launched the fucking Surface for crissakes. To me, that represents the same, stubborn denial of reality plaguing Obamacare. It would be like Vitalogy80 saying, "my personality is perceived as being too harsh and humorless, so I am going to hire Appledoc as a life coach to make me warm and fuzzy." With all due respect to the President, Jimmy Carter was probably the smartest president since Jefferson. No joke.

Earnings it is, then? Surprising that a publication like WSJ would whiff on a story like this. They didn't whiff on this story. They're in on it. Price is truth!

On the phone with my Chinese friend. It's a muttled and mixed message; voice quality is POOR. He is saying the city of Shenyang offers 5s and 5c with 4G under China Mobile (Shenyang is the capital city of Liaoning province of NE China).
I don't speak Chinese and there's a translator involved, but he sounds confident with the information.

WSJ is a Dow Jones company, yes, but we mostly ignore the Dow now. Most focus on the SPX/NASDAQ it seems.

I am a only a decent investor and in my spare time a mediocre trader, so don't listen to me.
If the AAPL crashes tomorrow on the open, I am a buyer sometime between 10:15 and 11:45, for a trade.
I am regretting buying my JAN 550/570 BCS last Friday at the close. Until tonight it looked like a good move. Sure seems like tomorrow morning is likely to provide a better entry point.

Questions I've asked: 1. What's left to negotiate between Apple and CM, if anything? 2. Is it a manufacturing issue that limits the sale of iPhones using 4G, as I believe Pegatron may be building a specific iPhone for the Chinese market 3. In what cities is the iPhone currently sold by CM (besides Shenyang)
Any others? Sorry for the haphazard posts -- this is not an Apple keynote.

It's almost noon in Guangzhou. It seems clear that if there was the big Apple iPhone announcement that many were expecting, we would have some official news of it by now.

Nice work Mercel.
This whole saga really shows how poor the major media outlets international reporting is - why doesn't WSJ or New York Times or CNBC have a reporter on the ground that can simply go to one of the alleged china mobile stores with iPhone displays, or get some official comments etc verified? Instead most of the reports I have seen online over the last two weeks have been referring to website images, social media photos & the odd phone call.

Don't thank me until some of this pans out, but I'm trying. I've offered to visit them to thank them in person and give a presentation about America (it's a private college comprised of Apple-loving students).

Yeah, it's really disappointing. This is a BIG deal and we aren't getting squat for information. I distrust StockTwits for good reason.

All of the chinese new sites that are somewhat trustworthy suggest negotiations are ongoing.
China Mobile Chairman Xi Guohua's comments today regarding the Apple deal........

They all make shit up to pursue eyeballs. WSJ, NYT, CNBC. ALL OF THEM. Apple and CM are in private discussions. No outsiders at all. Putting people on the ground to talk to a bunch of individuals with no inside information would just lead to more ridiculous speculation. A few of us were slammed on here for calling bull shit on this entire story, and the bush league so called CM web sites. I wish the story had been true, but there was no good reason to believe any of it in the first place. None of this is real till Apple says it is

CM has released information that pertains to Apple and is potentially very relevant to AAPL. Having said that, I agree with the point of view that journalistic credibility is finding new lows.

Before you break out that broad brush, Lstream, one zero zero eight six dot cn IS the China Mobile website.
Yeah, there could be more civility on this board, but I think many of us "it's happening" folks have been civil with those who disagree.
